how exactly would you go about putting a cage in this ranger? theres already no room for the driver. not to mention the throw of that shifter being aprox 2 feet.

if it runs decent, I know it is pretty darn quick in a straight line. I'll call my friend in VA and ask how much of a PITA the head gaskets are on these things and what problems we could be in for.

http://bham.craigslist.org/cto/1161570769.html I think it's too big to start with, but it would be so cool!

http://bham.craigslist.org/cto/1161238522.html Now this would be a beast! These things were mega quick with the 4.0 and this ones a 5 speed as well.

Here's a crazy question . Would an air cooled VW have even a chance of lasting 24 hours? And if an air cooled VW wouldn't last, would a Motorcycle drivetrain in a gutted beetle have a chance? I know someone that might be interested ni making that a reality if there were a place to work on it with proper tools.

Yeah we don't want an automatic, mazda or anything else.

I've heard (actually, after I bought a 626 with one) that Mazda automatics are prone to failure, so this probably is a point to consider.

Talked to Dad today. First possible car is a mid to late 90's Mazda Protege. My dad did work on it, but the title has been pawned and the guy doesn't want the car back. $300 buys the title.

He's also got a couple of Hondas and some late 80's/early 90's big-body domestics too. More info to come.

From what I saw in a video yesterday ... in the race we are considering, they crush at noon of day 2 ... or at least morning of day 2.

we just have to be slower the first half of the race than we can magically start to pass everybody.

Hmm, I don't want to be slow, lol. I'm going to go look at a couple salvage cars tomorrow that supposedly run. We shall see.

you always think negative. they won't crush us if we are slower than another miata.

Or they'll just think we're trying too hard to fool them and crush us anyway? Or inflict massive penalties.
