I'm just thinking for 24 hours of Abuse we would need to bring 4 or 5 sets mounted and ready to go. Just in case there are on track incidents, a sidewall decides it doesn't like being attached to the tread portion of the tire, Someone elses fender decides it wants to be where our tire is. Things like that.

I'm not saying brand new tires, just 4 or 5 decent sets of 190+ treadwear tires. Don't care if they are on crap steel wheels.

My brother said he bought some really hard street tires to use. They brought 2 sets to the track and were still one of the fastest cars. So i assume we can just get what they used and we will be fine. But if we can get someone to sponsor that would be really nice too.

I'm not sure on the entry fee. I'm looking around on the LeMons site right now and I can't find an answer. It is the better bang for the buck if we can find a smokin deal on tires and rims (Like free for a Gigantic Logo on the car, lol.)

Chuck, there are ways to make this work. It just requires some thought. I have thought of a few ways to make it work already! : )

$500 engine = total legal budget (excluding safety equip. and tires, IIRC.) Then the BS inspectors start deducting laps before the green flag flies.

Dude I am glad you saw that. To think we were going to settle on a measly 13 hours of track time when we could get a full 24 hours. I am assuming all the entry fees and what not are all the same, so I am done with doing that instead of CMP.

Oh no! There is an actual 24 Hours of LeMons (meaning they don't break at night!) at Nelson Ledges October 3rd and 4th! Um, yeah I'm already on the bike and I'm so down with losing the pounds and training for this in a serious way. Alan, I'll go ahead and speak for the Peele contingent. If you want in your so in! We need to figure out how to make this a reality.

This sounds interesting, something really fun. I'd be interested in the cost given you have a free car with a free (and safe) cage. That is a huge deal and could make the bottom line cost acceptable. How many people have shown interest that aren't on this thread?

If it doesn't survive he said don't worry about it. The car is in Huntsville. We definantly need to get up there and see if everybody fits. We can also go ahead and get a list of what all we need so we can start getting a budget together.

What happens if it doesn't survive? I like your answers so far, lol. Where is the car? I'd like to at least sit in it and see if I can fit my all torso self under the roof with a helmet on.

I can get an engine for $500 and have it installed with no labor costs.

My brother and I will do all the work so we don't have to pay someone to do it. I still think it will be cheaper because it already has a cage which would cost us about $1000, and it already has a seat and fire bottle. All of which we would have to pay for if we didn't use this car. It is Eric Van Cleef's car that they used last year. We won't have to pay to rent it or anything if it survives we will just give it back to Eric.

IM not sure that a car that needs an ENGINE will be cheap in any way. I don't have the expertise to install an engine in an MR2 and even if I did, installing it and having it run reliably are two completely different animals. That car would have to very special and very free for it to be worth it in my eyes.

The car is a first generation. The seat is mounted on the original seat rails, but if need be they can be removed. That will give you another 3 to 6 inches of head room.

One of the guys that drove the car last time was about 6-4 and he fit in the car with the seat rails. What we need to do is get a weekend where we can go look at the car and decide whether or not it will work. Like i said it needs an engine to get it ready. I really think that if we can get everyone to fit this will be the cheapest way to go and the easiest.

I guess we could cut off the roof and extend the cage towards the sky 5 or 6 inches, lol. The there's the issue of having to look through the top of the windshield frame. Probably not the safest thing.

What generation MR2? I don't fit in the 1st gen at all and if I don't fit, I'm pretty sure BIll won't fit either.
