The fact that the coolant hoses are missing, and probably have been for months upon years, is a really really bad sign. The block probably looks like swiss cheese from all of the corrosion and exposure to the elements. Not to mention the plugs being out. I'm with matt on the idea that that motor, is going to be a big hurdle to overcome.

If it's the F22A, it was in the Prelude S and Accord. Not a wide range of parts cars.
EDIT :: I'm asking my brother if he's got a parts car around ... they've got a few yards and connections with many more. In GA though.Last edited by TouringBubble; 04-29-2009, 08:26 AM.

With the look of that engine, I'm not sure it would be worth it to try to get it running. Having the cylinders and valves exposed for who knows how long will most likely require a rebuild. Not to mention the parts I see missing off the bat would be around $1000 retail. Of course, finding stuff at PaP might be easy ... not sure how many cars had that engine. It's an F22, right?

OK, do we want to move forward with this here ride or do we want to look for another? Who out there can either swap motors or at least get this thing running if that is possible? Bill, will your friend from up there help us get it running?

it is a 94. after a little research i think it is an si, NON 4ws. s did not have power locks, si 4ws had leather seats. this one has power locks & cloth seats.

What year is that car. I might be able to have a D16A6 donated. That's the motor that my 91 Si uses stock.

sorry, the guy who took the pics came by & picked up the camera before i had a chance to dump them onto my computer. hopefully i can get it back for at least a few minutes to dump the pics tonight.
i did find out the reason it was traded in was the oil was run out & it was knocking. unless someone has a scope i'm guessing the 1st thing we need to do is pull the head to see what the damage is.

I haven't looked into it, I'm just posting preemptively because I can..........there is a rule that if you use a "pre lemons car" you have a different budget. I know that I just saw an article about this in GRM or Roundel or something. Several guys built a BMW e30 that they had run over a couple of Lemons and each time they upgraded a few parts here and there.
I also know that there are several (as Chuck put it) "bogus judges rules" that if you are given a car (donated) they will most likely put you at $1000 off the bat on your budget. So, that means that if you take the donated car and then spend your $500 budget you are looking at $1500.00 total budget and that is many many minutes penalty. You then have the unfortunate reality that you have to not piss off the judges or anyone else out there or your car can be taken and "crushed" or "burned alive" as I think they call it within 30 minutes. You have that time to strip anything you want to save off the car.
Mark and I have looked into the Lemons on a few occasions and try to soak in as much information as we can whenever we see something about it.
I think the best way to go about the build is to get a "previous Lemons" car that has a good "stock" suspension that is dependable and then put some TOYO R888 on it and run with it.
And Yoder is right, 5 sets of tires probably would be needed (used ofcourse).
John
