  • WOW what a great day. You guys put on a good show. Chris and I had good time and kept all 4 wheels on track so far.if we can just make 1 more day we set the sign off and are all set. We want to do some of the hill climbs also.
Hat's off to all of the people that do the leg work before hand and during the event. Day's like today is why we wanted to do SCCA events. Good day and even better people.

Let's make that a GREAT WEEKEND! This is one of the smoothest running Time Trials events I've been to in the last 20 years or so. Events like this do not happen on the days the driving occurs; they start to happen months ahead of time.

Hats off to John Waight for the ground work he laid to pull this together. While his presence was missed (and understandly so), his work carried throughout the weekend and everything ran smoothly. It's easy when you have a good foundation!

Thanks John! Our prayers are with you and your family.

      • Great Weekend Better People !!!!

Thanks to all the corner workers and the event managers for such a wonderful event.
I was very pleased with the whole weekend and really met some very nice folks. It has
been a long time since I've seen some of the folks and that was great as well. Looking
forward to seeing you all again real soon. Thanks again for a great show and all the
        kindness. John

        • I would like to lend a gracious thank you to all the drivers who decided to run into stuff at turn 6. My arms are sore from holding the debris flag for so long.

Great event though, some cool cars out there and some fast drivers.

Because they heard I liked my name, so they put my name as my name so I could have my name in my name... all the time.

          • So you say the some drivers need to do a Solo event to remember how to avoid the cones?

            • I only hit 3 cones, and to make up for it I would hit then again each time I came around to try and knock them off the track.

              • 1. If you aren't hitting cones you aren't going fast enough
                2. Cones don't belong on rumble strips or any other 'useable' suface
                3. See #1

                • That cone was not on the rumble strip, it was in the dirt!

In all seriousness though, that strip needs to be extended a few feet.

                  • So exactly why are there cones on the track? I see some as defining brake markers, apexes, and track out points. In my area there were cones at the beginning, middle, and end of the rumble strips and others that I saw absolutely no use for.

BTW, thanks for showing me the way around on Sunday. I still need some more laps to fully grasp all of your input though. Your line the the double 90's was significantly different than all the others.

                            • The TAC/TVR site has the times that everyone ran for the last 4 years in the new track configuration. They are ordered to reflect the fastest times in class regardless of the year. Eden is working on the official time sheets for the last weekend.

Thanx to the workers and drivers who came out to make this a success. We had a ball putting it on for you.

I was being a little facetious, *BUT* there were actually many cones that started out all the way trackside of the rumble strips, with several actually touching or completely on the asphalt. Patrix33 and I rode bikes around the course Friday night and surveyed the apexes and trackouts. I dunno who ran there Thurs or Fri but there were tons of cones on or very near the asphalt. Thankfully the Upchurch guys and our volunteers 'migrated' the cones to more reasonable locations as the even went on. Historically the cones were placed outside of the rumble strips and allowed full use of the strips as necessary. As Cholewa said, there are spots where there are holes and cones have to be there. I think this is the result of having cones on the strips and people modifying thier line accordingly, and too short rumble strips.

IMO, the a big problem with the cone crowding is not that it limits the actual speed through the feature, but the fact that one will be hit and when it happens there is WAY less room to modify your line to compensate. Combined with the new (and great) TT format, victimized cones can wreck the remainder of a session..... Prolly wouldn't happen nearly as often if the cones were in the grass, even if I was one of the main cone executioners.

I like try and get out to the rumble strips as a standard practice, for better or for worse. I consider it a testament to fast and loose (maybe sloppy ) driving. The rumble strip IS directly comparable to the cones at an autocross. If you don't get on one at some point, you ain't going fast enough.

^ not a rant. Had a GREAT time this weekend. Many thanks to all involved.

You know I was glad to do it. But we ALL know you don't need any tips. Some of the whippersnappers around here may not remember, but anybody that saw you in the Blue R/T at TGPR several years ago would agree that you can find you way around just fine.

What you need is another RX-7, but with a rollbar.
