It's definitely big enough to do 2 lanes of slalom and the cloverleaf. And there is access to the building right next to it.

      To all,

I guess this is about as late as I can come in, but I've been promoting NDCCC to all my friends, family, and co-workers for quite some time. I've attended classes (Greg taught) a few years ago, and I'm convinded that it is a life saving course. I would like to be involved this year so that I might teach next year. Please let me know the NDCCC's schedule and locations when available. (I'm looking for NDCCC locations as well). Looking forward to learning from all of you.

      PM's welcome.

If you find what might be a decent location please post it here. We were flat turned down by the city of Hoover last Friday. There is something out there and I am looking everywhere to figure it out! Going to check out Bessemer airport tomorrow. I hear they have some fairly wide runways and could possibly shut one down for us. I'll let you know what I find out.

There is a decent lot on Parkway East (75) heading north from I-59. It's on a big slope though and might not be great.

talk to gardendale first baptist sean. We used their site religiously a few years ago and it was amazing. I'm not really sure why we got the boot but it's been a little over a year now and we might be welcome back.

Hey guys. I am a member at Gardendale First Baptist and am putting together an email to the Pastor & Administrator as I type this. Hopefully I can sit down with them this week. I'll let you know what I find out.

I have asked Rod Hardiman, parent of one of our NDCCC students, a novice at our TnT, and a member at GFBC to twist some arms to see if we could get back in at GFBC. here is the reply he sent me:

Fyi...our pastor replied to my email. He said he would be getting with the other guys regarding the schedule and the only issue he saw was being able to block off the lot for the entire day. He watched the movie and I think that probably really helped. At least it sounds positive at this point.

I think there is a big festival going on in Gardendale on March 7th. If so, that date would likely be out.

I hope I'm not putting Rod on the line by posting this, but this is encouraging. If GFBC can be hit from several fronts, OK by me. Kids are dying and the community seems not to care. All we are asking for is asphalt and some classroom space. ANYTHING we can do to train these kids is a step in the right direction. Pray, hold your breath, wish on a lucky star, whatever, we are in need, we're trying to help, and we need a site owner with the forethought and wisdom to see that what we are trying to do is for the greater good.

Greg...posting that was fine by me. Our pastor is out of town the next two days, so Wednesday is likely the earliest I will hear anything. I will contact the other guys while he is gone though. I'll let y'all know as soon as I do.

Good news indeed. I have a meeting this Tuesday to discuss the use of another site. Having more than one location willing to help support this program can be nothing but a good thing in my eyes.

Thank you Rod for helping this along on your end. Let's hope we have soem good news in the next week or two.

                    • I am glad to help and hope it works out. My son & wife thoroughly enjoyed the class and got a lot out of it. We have several friends w/15 & 16 year olds who now want to take their kids through it. Hopefully y'all will end up with a couple of sites to use to allow for scheduling and location variety.

BTW...the NDCCC experience was directly responsible for me joining you guys at the test-n-tune. I didn't meet as many of you as I should have 'cause I was having too much fun! Got 14 runs in and can't wait til I get another chance to join you.

and Sean did not drive my car...I wasn't willing to give up any seat time!

                      • 14 runs in one day is a tire killer! . Glad you enjoyed the day. Welcome to the addiction.

                        • The Springville WalMart has a pretty large cruise in once a month, they block off almost half of the parking lot. I wonder if they would let us use a part of the parking lot once a month and I bet the have training space in there some where as well.

                          • Do they have a meeting room in the walmart? And generally, most walmarts have a lot of lights/shopping cart returns in the parking lots and those are bad news to us. We need a good hundred feet if not more between lights to be able to pull off the cloverleaf safely.

So "we used Gardendale First Baptist Church's site religiously"

What a novel concept for a church parking lot!

But seriously, that is a great place!

                              • I posted about GFBC in the "emails sent" thread. I've been working with our Pastor & staff and think I'm close to securing the site for at least most of the 6 proposed NDCCC dates after March 7. I had hoped to get confirmation today but that did not happen. I'll give them a shout tomorrow, as most of the staff is off on Friday and I really hope to get it resolved before the weekend.
