Getting back to the NDCCC, I had a thought this morning as I watch a young driver zipping through traffic as if he was on a SOLO course. Why not invite (aka: free admission) the students of a NDCCC to an autocross event. It'd be a good way for them to try out their new found talents in a competitive format as well as possibly add to the entry list to the SOLOs
We could even set up a class just for NDCCC participants.
I like that idea John. Honestly, only 3 or 4 would likely even show up out of each group so I don't see it impacting the events very much. If one of those becomes a regular that's 6 - 10 new drivers per season. We could just pass out cards at the end of the class like the ones given to TT workers.
I honestly don't care when folks start to show up Saturday. If anyone wants to come by Friday night you are welcome as well. Just shoot me an IM or an email and I will get you my address or directions, whichever you would like.
Quick thought on registration ... any reason we can't do this online? Online forms and online payment could make for short work of the registration, payment, and follow-up email process.
I'm a bit swamped with work, but I'd love to pitch in some thoughts. When/Where are you all meeting?

NDCCC is a free form thing tomorrow. If we have an idea, lets get it on paper. I'd like everyone that wants to contribute to at least get an hour or so sitting around in the same place talking about what we want to accomplish and how we should get there. Honestly. Get here as soon as you can and stay as long as you want.

Just a thought
I'm not sure how this idea has been overlooked but good lord that's fantastic.
Two events ago the kid driving the VW GLI came and I gave him a ride and he had a blast. I think that would actually be a really worthwhile idea to at least attempt. OR, if we ever do a performance driving school like we did years ago, give them a discount on admission.
As for tomorrows/todays meeting, I cannot make it even though I wish i could dearly. So, in my absence please keep in mind the goal of the NDCCC, and try to create a new exercise or at least throw some ideas around that would incorporate a lot of what they learn at the beginning of the day. Remember, this is not a performance classroom, it is a car control classroom, we need to build a strong foundation for these kids to grow their future car skills on. One of the fathers mentioned this as I was discussing the cloverleaf one day, but I described it as such
"Basically, your car is like a baby, it needs things, and if it doesnt get them, it will tell you. And when it tells you you can either supply it with what it needs to make it happy, or face the consequences. If your tires start telling you HEY HEY HEY OMG STOP I CAN"T DO IT AHHHHH, then you use your foot to tell the car WHOA THERE, SORRY, my bad. Then the tires will shut up and everyone is happy."
Dad: "I never really thought of it like that, but it makes sense, that you are having a conversation with the car, where the car makes noise, and you adjust your driving to talk back"

Because they heard I liked my name, so they put my name as my name so I could have my name in my name... all the time.
