It was a good three days, great weather (for the most part), great friends and great competition. As Jordan Towns put it " I always feel like the Dixie Test N Tune is one of the biggest Autocross social events of the year". If you are on the fence about a nationals type event, this is the event.

I wish I could say I spent all of the off season getting the Blue Car ready but I was disgusted with it at the end of last season. It was put on jack stands, a battery tender, covered and forgotten until late April. Pop and I aligned it a couple week before Dixie, I got around to changing the oil and putting a muffler on it the weekend before the event. It cranked so thought good enough.

We didn't even do the test and tune or scrub in the tires before the event. I hadn't even driven in anger since November last year. The first day the Blue Car just worked. John drove the ever-lovin' hell out of it.

For those of you that are thinking "John is always in the top few in PAX at our events, what's the big deal?" go look at the list of name below his and you will find a bunch of multi-time national champions, a bunch...

Couldn't agree more. This was my second trip to Dixie and both were a blast. The competition is one thing but the great group of ALSCCA friends that have made the trip the last two years, as well as those from TVR and other regions, have been the highlight. BTW, we had two ALSCCA tour rookies this year with Steve Saunders in AS and Matthew Wright in SMF.

Big thanks to Sam for the codrive in his STU 350z. That car is a blast and is only going to get faster as he keeps working on the setup. For the second year I coned away a trophy at Dixie . My first run on Saturday was a real flyer and would have put me into the 4th spot but for a cone in the slalom. On Sunday I redeemed myself somewhat with my last run that moved me up several positions to finish 6th of 14 in STU. The positive I take away from the weekend is that for the first time I felt truly competitive in a strong class. I also got some very positive feedback from Sam Strano during the Evo Advantage on Friday morning so the whole weekend was encouraging...even with that @$&^ cone.

Big congrats to our trophy winners! John Waight repeating as Dixie CSP champ, Drew Peele & Clay McCool finishing 3rd & 4th in GS in Clay's SRT4, and Jerry Ledford getting 4th in STU in the underdog M3.

                    • Dixie was my first BIG event and WOW. This was a very cool event for me being a novice with low expectations for personal performance. The skill level and prep level of cars overall was incredible. The local performance and performance from our friends up north was very impressive. There's some damn good drivers in Alabama!!!

We've all heard of the "alien" drivers... At the Evo school Friday I had about a dozen runs or so with a best time of 26.5. Then. Strano jumps in my car and runs a 24.2... Then, he rides with me for a couple and coaches me to a 25.2... Friggin alien...

Strano also drove Sam's car and Sam beat him by a half second!!!

We have our own "alien" with Johns W8!!! John beat me by 14 SECONDS in raw over the two days!!! How does one get beat by 7 seconds in a run??? I saw it and still can't wrap my head around this. Beat by 7 seconds in run???

I know some of our team was disappointed with the weekend's results (including me), but we have some top notch folks here - personally and driving skill, ALL winners.

Thanks for a great weekend and congratulations to all, especially the trophy winners!!!!

                      • Great time with the AL gang! I didn't do the M3 much justice but I was happy that I got a second faster each run in a german mobile. We were a little out gunned but I didn't get last LOL and Jerry took home a trophy beating several cars that were sliiiiightly more prepped than the bimmer. Some awesome cars there and awesome drivers as well. Big congrats to all of our trophy winners. That's not an easy thing to do at Dixie. And don't kid yourself. John drove the car stupid fast, but Darryl wasn't exactly slacking. 24th out of 272 "ain't bad".

And Jerry only got beat by 1 car owner in STU. The others were hired guns to sweep the class.
