If it doesn't survive he said don't worry about it. The car is in Huntsville. We definantly need to get up there and see if everybody fits. We can also go ahead and get a list of what all we need so we can start getting a budget together.

This sounds interesting, something really fun. I'd be interested in the cost given you have a free car with a free (and safe) cage. That is a huge deal and could make the bottom line cost acceptable. How many people have shown interest that aren't on this thread?

Oh no! There is an actual 24 Hours of LeMons (meaning they don't break at night!) at Nelson Ledges October 3rd and 4th! Um, yeah I'm already on the bike and I'm so down with losing the pounds and training for this in a serious way. Alan, I'll go ahead and speak for the Peele contingent. If you want in your so in! We need to figure out how to make this a reality.

Dude I am glad you saw that. To think we were going to settle on a measly 13 hours of track time when we could get a full 24 hours. I am assuming all the entry fees and what not are all the same, so I am done with doing that instead of CMP.

$500 engine = total legal budget (excluding safety equip. and tires, IIRC.) Then the BS inspectors start deducting laps before the green flag flies.

I'm not sure on the entry fee. I'm looking around on the LeMons site right now and I can't find an answer. It is the better bang for the buck if we can find a smokin deal on tires and rims (Like free for a Gigantic Logo on the car, lol.)

Chuck, there are ways to make this work. It just requires some thought. I have thought of a few ways to make it work already! : )

My brother said he bought some really hard street tires to use. They brought 2 sets to the track and were still one of the fastest cars. So i assume we can just get what they used and we will be fine. But if we can get someone to sponsor that would be really nice too.

I'm just thinking for 24 hours of Abuse we would need to bring 4 or 5 sets mounted and ready to go. Just in case there are on track incidents, a sidewall decides it doesn't like being attached to the tread portion of the tire, Someone elses fender decides it wants to be where our tire is. Things like that.

I'm not saying brand new tires, just 4 or 5 decent sets of 190+ treadwear tires. Don't care if they are on crap steel wheels.

Actually 190 is the minimum. I was reading the rules and that is all they allow is 190 and above.

Entry: $500 per car + $100 per driver + $75 for non-drivers. (Each team must have 4-6 drivers.)

                        http://www.24hoursoflemons.com/rules/ has pricing, etc.

Creativity is good. Very important is staying out of trouble with 90+ other cars out there in a mile or so of track.

Yeah we just weren't sure if it was more expensive for the full 24 Hours.

I have a trailer and access to a truck as well. I'm tall but skinny, I'd fit wouldn't I?

I wonder if tirerack still has the bridgestones on sale...

i have actually sat in a 1st gen mr2 all ready. i can get in & make it move, but to actually race it i would have to have a pan seat bolted to the floor. that might present a problem for some of you verticaly challenged folks. if the mr2 is the way to go, i will sit out driving this year & just help build. then i will start looking for something else to build for next year!

i have read some articles about driving the lemons & i really have to think something like an '80's caprice classic would be just about the best vehicle for it. but the prereq for that would be finding one cheap enough. plus we could show up @ the race w/ 20" wheels & that would be da bomb, yo.
