When's the next one, Greg? I had Oct. 18th on my calendar, for some reason, but now it looks like Nov. 1st is next?

(To the Chief Operating Officer at New South Federal, cc: to Greg Lee)

I cannot think of a more valuable community service than contributing to
the preservation of the lives of our cherished sons and daughters. The
New Driver Car Control Clinic that took place on your property this past
Saturday, skillfully directed by Mr. Greg Lee and a host of enthusiastic
and talented volunteers, fulfilled this valuable and critical role in
community service. New South Federal Savings Bank should be rightly
proud of the service they are providing to our community at large by
              facilitating this driving training course.

              Bravo!

              Sincerely,

              James McClintock

                Mr. Roger Murphree,

                Nov. 4, 2008

To COO at New South, cc: to Greg Lee

I wanted to say a HUGE THANK YOU for providing the facilities so that the alscca could conduct the new driver car control clinic this past Saturday. Mr. Gregg Lee and all of the members of the alscca did a wonderful job providing the training and coaching for the kids that attended. Everything was handled with the emphasis on safety and the kids having a good time!!! My grandson Jonathan Kramer & I attended and we both enjoyed the day immensely. We both are more confident that Jonathan has the training to avoid a potential accident in the future. By allowing the alscca to use your facility you perform a great public service to the Irondale community as well as the surrounding areas. Again Thanks!!!

                  Greg,

The Car Control Clinic was awesome! I rode with a nervous and timid 16 year old Saturday morning to Gardendale. Returning home, I was riding with a confident driver as he scanned, schemed and whatever the third word was that did not start with an “s” that meant to look for potential problems. (insert the word "imagine" - RGL)

I purchased tire pressure gauges (with a circular dial and needle) and discovered that my tires did NOT have enough air pressure in them on Saturday!!! I have thrown the pencil gauges in the trash as you suggested. Now I wish I had known to buy one BEFORE Saturday.

                    Hi Greg,

I have nothing but praise for you and your volunteers last Sat. The clinic was extremely helpful and so important as a life long skill. I believe my son will have more confidence behind the wheel from now on. The volunteers were so cheerful, fun, and encouraging, it was hard to believe they weren't getting paid.

                    <edit>

                    Thanks again,

                    Susan Markovitz

                    -------------------

                    Greg,

I asked William what he thought about the clinic, and he gave a one word answer - awesome! He also asked if he could do it again. I feel certain that he learned much about what a car feels like on the edge and hope he learned that there is much he doesn't know. He has been scouring the internet since Saturday to find the perfect old VW Golf. He is determined to autocross when he gets old enough.

I have been conflicted since William turned 15 with regards to his driving. He has grown up with me, my dad, my uncle, and cousins all sharing a love of automobiles and racing (my cousin races Spec Miata and some Grand Am). I have enjoyed sharing this love with William who went to his first Formula One race and Rolex 24 at age 8. However, I know very well how dangerous driving can be and have been very concerned with that invulnerable attitude every teenager has. I have been looking for ways to provide training and instruction yet not kill his enthusiasm. This class was one way to provide such instruction. I will pursue others as well (if you have any suggestions, I'd be interested to hear them).

I was very pleased with the amount of driving time during the course. It was much more on the edge than I expected - and that is great. The thing that impressed me most was the positive support of all the instructors. They were wonderful - please tell them so. I was especially impressed that so many young adults would give up their Saturday to provide this instruction. I don't have any big improvement suggestions.

Thanks again for a great day. I imagine we will be at an autocross or two when he gets his license. I have missed it myself.

                      Greg,

Just wanted to send you a quick note of THANKS! Karlee really enjoyed and felt like she learned alot. It was nice for me as a parent to have someone else say many of the same things I tell her. You know parents don't know anything.

Karlee also took her driving exam at SPHS yesterday and passed. She told her coach about the clinic and he almost got defensive that what they teach in drivers ed should be enough. I am going to send him an e-mail to explain that there is a big difference in the classes. It just shows you that not enough people know about the value of what you are doing.

Please let everyone know how much I appreciate them taking their Saturday to spend with my daughter.

                      Take Care!

                        Greg,

OK, you got me….I am now a “raving fan” of your organization and clinic.

Coming in, I had fairly high expectations, because of the personal recommendation from a former student/parent.

You and your team exceeded those expectations. I think I might be sounding like a broken record, but I have been telling everyone [potential students/parents] how great it is.

If ALL drivers on our roads could be exposed to this kind of training, our injury and fatality stats would be significantly reduced.

Please keep up the good work.

                        Regards,

                            Greg,

Saturday's course was a great experience for both Sam and me. We learned a lot and had fun in the process. I wish you were able to offer similar "refresher" clinics for all ages, and it's a shame that courses of this quality aren't part of driver's ed in our schools.

It's not a suggestion for improvement but an observation about an important feature of the clinic that I hope you'll continue to emphasize--all of the instructors were consistently positive and constructive in their comments to Sam. The friendly, encouraging tone that each of you maintained throughout the day in your interactions with him made a huge difference in his anxiety level and really made him want to do his best. I believe that constant high level of enthusiasm and support from every instructor was what made the clinic such a success.

Thanks again to you and all the instructors for an outstanding experience. I've already recommended the course to family and friends and will continue to do so.

                            Regards,
                            Rick Turpen

                              (Received June 16, 2009)

Thank you for providing the opportunity for new drivers to become safer and more competent behind the wheel. Your clinic (on April 4, 2009) was an experience my daughter and I will never forget and I believe the benefits are incalculable. You are doing a real service to the community and I wish more young people could have this sort of training - I believe it would lower the numbers of driving deaths of young drivers.

Thanks also or, rather, please extend our gratitude to all the volunteers who helped us out when our tire blew-out. We discovered the cause of the blow-out was a severely-bent (flattened actually) rim which was most certainly caused by a mile-deep pothole I failed to avoid at the intersection of I-459 and I-65 some weeks before. After hitting it, I went straight home to report it (it has been filled) but did not realize the damage until the day of the clinic. I am grateful no one was hurt and that the tire decided to blow while we were sitting idle in a parking lot!!

The concern and help we received from all the clinic volunteers was much appreciated. Please extend special thanks to the man who gave us two good, used tires. It was such a generous gesture - one we really can't repay. Please tell him we will try to "pay it forward." I did not get his name but he is a well-known (and apparently very talented driver) who had two daughters at the clinic. Thanks also to Sean Yoder who followed us to get the new tires mounted and got us a great deal for the service. And, finally, thanks to the young man who drives a white Volkswagon sports car who allowed Julia to drive his car for the remainder of the clinic.

I have recommended this clinic to everyone I know and hope to send our other two kids when they get their driver's licenses (although I may make their dad attend it with them - I don't know if my nerves could stand another round!!) Thanks again for providing this service.

                              Sincerely,

                              Elizabeth Murray
