I agree turnout has been smaller last 6 or 8 events. It would be sad if we were to go back to a 45 second course just to satisfy 3 or more workers per station. One of the best things ALSCCA autocross has going for it is the huge expanse of pavement at the BRC! I feel we should be able to solidly man a 60 second course with almost any size turnout.

Just remember the last event was on the same day as events in Atlanta, Hville, and even Nashville. When you are the only game around on a weekend with nice weather, people will come from other regions. And if May event is on May 3rd, it is the same day as Hville TVR at Milton Frank Stadium, which will keep Hville people home.

I'm pretty sure our only other conflict is June 7.

My only conflict with the June 7 event is with my wife's family reunion. Guess who wins that one! I'll see you guys at BRC.

You know, Mike Wenning always asks for a 50 second course instead of 70. I keep telling him, "Gramps, it is 50 seconds ... for everyone else."

I thought about getting some big wheels and tires so I could run with all the other fast sedans in STX, but my wife said no to the budget for that.

I honestly thought that Marquis might have been fun to throw around. NOPE! It was the biggest pig I've ever driven around an Autocross course. Simply horrible. It wouldn't even turn the tires over when I tried to power brake it in a puddle.

Of course it might have been a pig, but it was eleventybilliongazilion times more fun to watch.

i could bring my truck out but I am sure I could beat the marquis .

Turnouts have been a bit low but I am seeing a few conflicts that are contributing to that as Clay pointed out .For instance this coming weekend ,Im going to have to miss due to PBOC being at Barbers .No ones fault really but conflicts just the same .

You really only need 2 people at most stations .Some stations need 3 but rarely do you need more than 2 .Your average event only requires a staff of 18-20 people per run group.That was my rule of thumb last year and it seemed to work just fine .We are in a pretty challenging economy right now where a lot of folks are just struggling to stay employed.Turnouts will get better but I have a feeling its going to be a while before it does.

With the worker stations positioned in the center of the course you need a runner for the top and a runner for the bottom and the radio/flagman staying put, less than three per station and you'll run someone to death in a cone intensive course. Or position the corner stations on the outside of the course so a worker doesn't have to worry about what's going on behind him on the top side if he's watching the bottom part of the course. Just a thought.

I have to agree. One worker that stays put and calls in penalties is also the spotter for the running workers. If he sees an unsafe condition that the running worker does not notice (such as an oncoming fast driver or someone else like Choleta), than the spotter can notify the running worker which way to head for safety or call for a red flag of the oncoming car for safety. Injured workers take too much time to remove from the course. A rerun is much faster

Three workers per busy station should be a minimum!
