oh and i also wanted to thank all of the experienced drivers that helped with the novices! i think having all the novice on one side of the grid and the experienced drivers on the other worked out great. i believe that all of them got a chance to ride before they drove the course which is a great help for them. so thanks guys!!!

Good job Jamie, the event ran smoothly. Very fun course, Ervin! It was a great mix of fast sections and tight transitions. As safety steward for the event, let me say this about the finish. A fast, straight finish is safer than a finish with some hard offsets right before the lights, every time. The rulebook states that the fastest portion of the course should be the farthest away from spectators, which it was.
Also about the guy hitting the timing lights, that was never a safety issue. I didn't see exactly how he managed to do it, but it could have been prevented by not putting the light and reflector 1 foot away from the finish cones! I have always suggested that we move the lights back away from the gate and yesterday I never had time to look at it. Can we just ALWAYS put the reflector and especially the light about 5 or 6 feet off of the gate?"I'm not as think as you slow I am"

It depends on how wide the gate is, the lights work pretty well when the light is ~25 feet away from the reflector. If you have a fifteen foot gate that only gives you 10 foot to play with. They will work further apart but you will have a few false trips. I have always set up the lights so that the box is where I perceive to be the most danger, and the light is the safest. I was wrong Sunday. I mean come on, it was a straight away, how in the &$^% did it get hit?Originally posted by g1teg View PostGood job Jamie, the event ran smoothly. Very fun course, Ervin! Speaking of the lights, who ever is doing equipment set up this season needs to learn how to set the lights up.

I had plenty of room to stop at the finish, only a little more then the TnT event. The finish was pretty much straight if you lined it up right and I had very little problems with the car stepping out at the end. And this is with a super tail happy car, on el cheapo street tires.

I inspected the area where he spun directly afterward. The was a specific chain of events that occurred and started with a minor driver error.
As Ervin said, he lifted and induced a slight oversteer. The big issue was after that. The area to the right of the car did have a bit of gravel from the surface breaking up a little and that made the slide slightly more severe and caused him to hit the first cone (at the gate before the finish). Just on the outside of that cone was a patch of mud where the surface was broken. He hit the mud and that's where the loop began.
Honestly, I don't think many of us could have recovered after that point. However, everyone else yesterday was able to prevent it totally.Matt W.

I'd be surprised if you did, seeing as how you had 50 runs at the course before the event even began.Originally posted by Jedi1 View PostI was kind of suprised that I didn't hit any cones with the Land Yacht yesterday.

I think I read a rule about wheeled vehicles on course prior to the event somewhere...
