I got the blue bomber running yesterday, but it died shortly thereafter. It will probably be a while before the motor gets rebuilt. Looks like I will be virtual autocrossing this season.

      LOL!

It didn't happen at the test and tune, unless you guys are still counting your seventh or eighth runs...

Interesting how you responded to the geek comment. He mighta been talking about someone else. I won't be in attendance this weekend as I'm going to Huntsville to the EVO school and the 1st TVR event. Milton Frank has a similar surface to Cecil which is next weekend and a whole lot better to scuff in the new faaaatttt Hoosiers than the dogtrack. Ya'll have fun!

I agree with Engled, it's been awfully quiet around here recently aside from the incessant threadjacking.

Evan's shoes are really pretty red too?

I seem to remember being in the 60's on my first run ... it was dirty, but I was the only one to break the 70 barrier for a while. I'd score that one for the Nerds ...

Sadly, I don't think I'm driving Sunday as I'm again promising myself that I won't kill my street tires, so one of my fellow nerds will have to let you follow his/her taillights this time ...

After some fiddling around yesterday we got the motor running. It ran great and idled smoothly for a few minutes. Then the radiator overpressurized and decided to start springing leaks. Then the coolant overflow cap blew off all over everything.

When putting the motor in, we noticed some of the coolant seal was hanging into the intake port (nature of the bridge porting I guess). Since the coolant system gained excessive pressure at idle and coolant was coming out of the exhaust pipe, we're pretty sure that the coolant seals need to be replaced.

Luis offered to fix it for free, but it will probably be a while before I get it back.

So cones don't count for nerds? I guess I might have to change my allegiance then. The first three runs you guys were back markers at best. My first run was a 70.7, fastest first run all day and third fastest in three.

Darryl, If you want to make a few passes in the Mini and let me make a few in the Miata I think we can settle this quite quickly. Consider this as a gauntlet being thrown.

I would normally say yes to this but after what you did to that poor guys S2000 I'll have to think long and hard about handing you the keys to something I paid for the tires on.

John W8, keep you mouth shut about the incident in Huntsville!

So you failed to improve on your time? You gave up early, huh?

My best in 3 was a 69.611+1 ... not bad for 3450lb and 360 TW street tires. I would have still been 1st in SM in 3 runs.

In a Miata on R-Comps you don't have to think about throttle or braking, right? You just hold it to the floor and steer, don't you? You've only got like 27 whp ... that can't be that hard to handle. And it only weighs like 324 lb w/ driver, so you don't have to worry about it pushing ...

Yup, all that and it still faster with cords showing than that fire breathing dragon you drive. Oh and it was the tires that gave up not me, I only got two timed runs in my car.

                          FYI 69.611 +1 = 71.611

You wouldn't know how to handle a real car Darryl ... =P

And thanks for clearing up that time for me ... I thought 69.611 +1 really meant +1 Kudo point like in PGR. Who knew we were supposed to not get +s?

There are still slots available for Huntsville Test & Tune on Saturday. Set up your car with nice weather before Bham event on Sunday. Darryl, treaded tires are required
