I was thinking about that, too. Maybe you should consider rewording that part of the information to say "full member" vs. "weekend member," or something similar.Chuck Schultz

This only happens if the" weekend membership" forms are filled out properly at registration, the correct copy put in the cash box ,and all of these forms returned to national the monday after the event. The copy the competitor keeps should be returned to them so that they can redeem the form for their coupon for $15 off a" fully subscribed membership".
You can use up to 2 of those by the way for a possible $30 discount.

sometime in 07 I did the weekend membership and got a DVD and a little brochure in the mail. It was a nice surprise and some pretty cool stuff. No magazine, but I don't know if I would have appreciated that at the time.Erik B.
Why do I keep racing these weird cars?
Why can't I just get a miata and be happy?

Same for me. The promotional materials SCCA sent me after my weekend membership were very nice. Apparently no one told them that I don't drive a sports car (as my wife likes to point out).
It's a pity I didn't take advantage of the two $15 membership discounts in my glove box before they expired. Christmas kind of got in the way.Joseph B.CS 82Ford fan that now has a garage full of red Mazdas.

I think the Novice class is a great idea!
As much as I've heard that the driver makes more difference than car mods, this makes tons of sense.
Would Ladies class and Novice class be mutually excusive?
If my wife co-drives with me (and is also a novice) and I drive under NSTS 82 would she drive under NSTSL 82 or NSTS with a different number?Last edited by ZX3Focus; 01-29-2009, 12:08 PM.Joseph B.CS 82Ford fan that now has a garage full of red Mazdas.

ZX3 had a good question. In the same vein, do NSTS cars get points based on their STS finish, or is that just for PAX, and they're competing in the N class? Would it be possible for someone to win rookie of the year and also their class? For example if 2 drivers were in a class where no "regulars" made the required # of events.

I just realized you could drive a Mustang in the NFS class. lolErik B.

Per Jamie's notes, the Ladies class is for non-rookie drivers. So, I guess she could choose to run L class as a new driver (as I don't think it's required to denote yourself as N just because you're new), but not both. I'd suggest N this season and L next.
Yes, I plan to start the Novice class at the T&T. It's a practice event for the setup crew as well, so we will run it like a normal event. This includes the new registration changes.
Focus, I'm not sure on that as we haven't run the N/L classes since I've been on T&S. I would guess that since N is a PAX class, that only the PAX modifier would change and the raw times would be ranked within the main class ... STS in your example.
So, based on my understanding of the rules, there would be:
A N winner for the event based on PAX times
A STS winner based on raw times, which could be the same N participant
A N winner for the season based on PAX times
A STS winner for the season based on raw times, and could also be a N participant
Jamie, is this correct? Basically, is a NC participant exempt from the standard points structure?Matt W.

2. Novice participants do not effect the rest of the participants. So if STS2 is 62second and NSTS87 is 52 seconds, STS2 wins STS class. and STS87 is paxed against the rest of the novice class. Does that make sense?
3. Correct. Rookie of the year will be based on Novice cummulative points awarded just like everyone else, just against everyone in the novice class rather than the car's class.
4. NO. STS is STS. NSTS is novice and has no relation to STS.

There seems to be a bit of confusion about the Novice class. The folks running in the novice class are running against each other. Their times are PAX because there could be HS, BS, BSP, STS etc. so they have to be PAX rather than raw. Novice is a Class, where the car classes just determine the method to PAX the drivers in the Novice Class. Their times have nothing to do with the experienced drivers. Same is true with the Ladies class. They are independent from everyone else.

Okay ... that's where I'm confused. Why is it referred to as a "PAX" class? Why do we even assign "STS" or "BS" to a novice driver if they have no affect on "STS" or "BS?"
Basically, you're saying that someone marked N can only score points for the N class for that event and toward the Rookie of the Year award ... not toward their marked class ... STS, BS or other. Also, even if a NSTS driver is faster than all other STS drivers, the fastest STS driver gets the 1st place points.
I can follow, but why would anyone do that for the entire season? That's voluntarily taking yourself out of the running for a class in hopes of that single chance at RotY.Last edited by TouringBubble; 01-29-2009, 06:40 PM.Matt W.
