  • Intro to the 2009 Season with Exciting Stuff

It is about time to get ready for the 2009 Season. We have been hard at work planning and implementing new stuff for the 2009 season. I hope you find these changes / additions as exciting as we do. I am going to give a brief over view of each and attach a PDF file where possible for your throne room reading.

The software only allows for 3 attachments so I will make several post to get it all in so be sure to read all of them. The PDFs will be attached below each blurb.

    First is the Supplemental Rules.
Not any thing really different here than what is normally done. It is just in writing now.
    Some high lights.
    • Registration - Online or at even - online registrations pay online
    • Car Classifications - explains the numbering system for the new classes
    • Annual Tech - read this one
    • Sponsor Considerations - another must read
    • Championship Points - little change here

    Supplemental Rules.pdf

    Changes to the Championship Points.
Championship points are awarded to ALL SCCA Members not just ALSCCA
Event Points will be awarded as follows (this is different that in previous years). However, Cummulative points will only be awarded to SCCA members (as in the past).
    • First 10 points
    • Second 7 points
    • Third 5 Points
    • Fourth 4 points
    • Fifth 2 points
    • On Course 1 point

We have 3 New Classes for the 2009 Season.
    1. Novice Class
    2. Ladies Class
    3. Club Class
I'll give you a little highlight on each. But go ahead and read the PDFs.

    Novice Class
    • The novice Program will be a season event with a Novice Champion (Rookie of the Year).
    • Eligibility - Do not have to be a member of SCCA
    • Egibility - participants may not have run more than 3 Solo events prior to the current season.
    • Pax - This is a Pax class
    • Rookie of the Year- Will be determined by cummulative PAX points
    • Rookie of the Year - will be awarded an annual member ship for the following season and a Rookie of the Year Trophy

    novice program.pdf

    Ladies Class

    • Must be a NON-Novice
    • Do not have to be SCCA members to participate
    • Must be a SCCA member for cummulative year end points
    • This is a PAX class
    • Pax cummulative points determine the champion
    • LC Champion points will be calculated IAW ALSCCA Supplemental rules

    Club Class.

Thanks to an idea by a couple of our members we decided to give this a shot. The idea is to create interest in AutoX and to recruit new ALSCCA Members.
Please take this PDF and share it amongst your friends that are not members, other forums, clubs etc.
    • Reduced entry fee depending on number of entrants
    • Can run up to 2 events as a club
    • Not eligible for event trophies or championship points
    • Follows the structure of the Novice class and must attend the Novice briefing and course walk.
    • Must work like anyone else
    • Any club member who does join ALSCCA may have thier Club Class points moved to their respective class for champion ship points IAW ALSCCA supplemental rules.

    club class.pdf

For now that is all I have. There will be a binder in the T&S trailer containing all of these PDF in print. I will also put together a few for handouts. There will always be copies of the Novice and Club Classes for participants at registration.

I am looking forward to serving as the Solo Chair this year. Thanks in advance for all of your help, event participation and friendship.

I really like the PDF's rather than Word documents, since some folks don't have Word. Thanks for getting the admin stuff so well organized.

Jamie, I certainly appreciate all your hard work. I know this schedule is only a guide and an ideal to shoot for. From experience there's no way to start the drivers meeting and have first car on the course 20 minutes later. I do think that sometimes our drivers meetings run a little long, but it can take 15 minutes or more after the drivers meeting just to get all the stations manned.

This is partially a function of the distance to the "facilities."

I attended a NCR event, last year or the year before, and they assigned run groups and work stations at registration. I'm not sure how they did it. They must've had the groups broken down before hand, based on mandatory preregistration, and then checked off assignments as folks did the onsite portion of their registration.

Exactly. It is intended to be a guide. I hope we can stay on schedule up to the Driver's meeting. That is the key in my mind.

Looks really good Jamie. Since I've only participated in one event, looks like I will be participating in the Novice program this year. I look forward to figuring out the car and the course and making new friends.

                      Thanks in advance!

If a driver begins the season as a novice, do they run novice the entire season? I assume yes but wanted to clarify.

Yes. If you have never run Solo before you start and stay in the Novice Class. This will do several things. One being you will have an instructor at each event, you'll have a guided course walk at each event, etc. Also the Novice Class produces the Rookie of the year.
