As a bit of further explanation:

When the autocross day is over and the results have been posted, what do you look at? Do you only pay attention to the other people in the class you ran with? Or do you look to see where you finished in the Raw times? Do you look at the PAX times as well? Which result is most important to you? Do you focus on improving the place you get in RAW times, say you want to place top 10 all year long, or maybe top 5, or do you just want to have FTD at every event? Or maybe you put more emphasis on being the top PAX at every event?

I look at pax first because I'm in Tire. Then I look at my stock class to compare. Then I take a nap.

I like looking at RAW and PAX, but there is no option for both! Obviously I compare my times to those in my class as well but over the season I could tell I was making improvements to my driving as I started climbing in both RAW and PAX times as the year progressed.

I look at both but that wasn't an option. I suppose it's class dependent. If you run a pax class you'd likely skip the raw times and vice versa.

              MOST IMPORTANT

focus on the word MOST, meaning only one. Do you want One dollar or Two dollars, you have to pick only one, you can't have Three dollars.

I guess to me one isn't more important than the other.

Can I change my vote to I don't care? Where do I get my three dollars?

Always comparing raw times. If I can edge closer to the really fast folks it's a great way to see improvements in the car and the loose nut behind the wheel.

I look at both, particularly since there hasn't been a big showing in D Stock so the only comparison I have is outside the class. Pax times are more meaningful to me because I cannot expect to beat EVO's and Z06's (or practically anything else) on raw times. The problem I have with Pax is I'm not sure it is very accurate to apply to every situation...some courses will favor small cars where HP doesn't really matter, and some favor the bigger HP cars, and Pax doesn't account for course layout or track conditions. However, it's all we have at the moment so I tend to use it for my benchmark. I try my best, however, to make the smile on my face the most important result.

Incidentally, if raw time is the most important, shouldn't we be driving shifter-karts or something?

I usually compare myself to the rest of SM, then to CSP to see how bad they beat me.

Like most of SM, I have no where near the car the SM PAX is based on. So, PAX is kind of useless for me.

I check raw times to see how close I am to similar or even "faster" cars. I agree with Matt about pax. I have very few of the mods allowed by any class I qualify for.
