Maybe we should add an additional PAX factor for experience as well. We could factor the factor on the PAX factor, you know, so the less experienced drivers could know how well they stack up on their first drive to the experienced drivers that have been driving for a while.

It could be your personal Handicap.

That is what Dothan does, the have I think same as what sparky said .975 for Tire class, they still have all the ST classes but for people who dont have an ST class like us who run TBS or TBSP and get both .975 pax as well as your class pax. To me all the tire pax are a little high But it is a good idea for people who are just having fun and may not be able to afford Hoosiers or Kumhos

Yeah that^^^. I run SM just for fun to be in the same class with C and Sara. I could run TASP and better my PAX a lot, but that sounds like 0 fun since there is nobody there really. I like to be in a class with a lot of competition in local events. Now next year when I do national stuff, I will run ASP with the Hoosiers to better my chances with PAX times. Local stuff is all just for fun really, which is why i care more about RAW times. I'm not competing to win a new car, or national recognition. Just fun, that's all.

It's a PAX class!! hater lol don't want to be in a straight pax class and don't want to run ASP. C, Sara and Matt are my closest competition...well i say Sara, but yeah....... anywho i like to just be in the same class lol it's an AWD turbo thing, you know, cars that require brakes....

Okay, well, this is unfortunately the way things are with forums, as we are once again getting way out from where this thread was supposed to go....and I should know better.

SCCA has 38 classes for National Competition. Add in the Road Tire classes, for those people that have a Stock car but don't want to purchase the expensive rubber. Then add in Ladies classes for each class. So far we are at 82 classes. Now, because we are a local region, and we want to cater to the masses, we also have the Pro class (based on PAX, where everyone runs against everyone), Tire class (based on PAX, where everyone runs against everyone on street tires), Novice class (so that the New people don't have to run against the veterans, based on PAX, so they all run against each other) and that is just the beginning. So we are now at 85 classes. And yet here we are, with people arguing that there is no competition, or the competition they have is not fair. If you wonder why people get so mad and confused when they come and try out our sport. This is the very reason. We have 85 classes, and we are being asked to add Factor on top of Factor, that is based on what 1500 of the best prepared cars and drivers are doing 6 times a year at National Events around the country.
And then as a Club, AL region has to make sure that we provide trophies to everyone who participates, even if they are the only car in their class, because they paid $30 to run and they want to show their friends they were the fastest. And If I don't provide trophies, or perhaps, you don't like the trophy that I have to give you, then you are going to tell me about it in a passive-aggresive email.

Look, I can make this real simple. If we have classes that have one person in them, you are going to be bumped until we have classes with 4 or 5 people. If you don't like it, then move to a PAX based class, Tire (if you run street tires) or Pro (if you run slicks, or you want to show how big of attachments you have). We will not be adding factors to factors, based on some premature data (based on EvoTour), or number that is pulled from thin air, because our lot is nowhere near the lot of what everyone else has. Plus, our registration people have enough to deal with, besides adding in more factors.

If you get beat, then you get beat, GET OVER IT. If everyone wants a trophy, then we don't have to have classes at all, and we don't need to set up the timing equipment either. It will save on setup time, and discounts that we pay to those people who come and set up.

I would hope that out of 85 classes that you may be able to participate in, or 41 if you are a Man, then you should be able to find some competition somewhere.

The whole reason we started this POLL was to see if the main competition is in PAX or RAW. We are planning to start a Year long trophy. No drops, to participate and win, you drive fast, you come all the time, you don't get excuses. If RAW times are more important, then you will be crowned RAW champion, if PAX is more important, the PAX champion, its based on ALL year results, averaged out in your place that you finish compared to everyone. So far, its looking like the RAW is going to win out, but we have a few more days for everyone to get their votes in. Lets see where it goes.

I'm down for an auto bump to the closest populated class, that sounds smart.

One thing that would be nice is to talk to huntsville and see where they get their magnets from, it would be nice to be able to sell them instead of dealing with tape and paper and bleh.

My thought was to just make it raw times. Pax is pointless, especially when you are talking about a regional level prep of cars. Not to mention when you have a smattering of national level prep'd cars in with everyone else, it becomes totally useless at that point.

Why not have a year long competition for both PAX and RAW?

We could do an IDGAF group and a SRSBSNS group, so the people who are serious with seriously prepped cars like sparks and the chitt's and all them can run in srsbsns, and people who are there to have fun can run in idgaf, and then the fast people can run for raw.

because in all honesty, I am not interested in having just more trophies in place for something that people don't really care about. If its not something that is going to cause people to strive for, then we aren't going to put forth the effort in setting up the competition and keeping the tallies and buying the trophies.

How much do these trophies cost exactly? Serious question.

what if we had 3 different drive wheel configurations, and 3 prep levels, wow 9 classes, that would be great, then if we could race on a surface that was traction challenged . . . . . . but I can only dream.
