Forum will no longer be utilized!

After facing many challenges with utilization of this forum for many years, the board voted on the evening of 1/12/2026 to stop use of the forum in favor of the modern, more effective means.

Most of our general club organization will now be coordinated via Discord and results from our events along with schedules and announcements will be hosted on our main alscca.net webpage.

What does this mean for the old forum? Well, in short we are going to stop using it. This has been reviewed several times in the past few years, and there has been a desire for some of more tenured members of the club to have the historic content preserved. In an effort to preserve this content, it was discovered that we could not simply export the content to be placed in a modern website. This forum will now become an archive only forum and will not be monitored. If you wish to preserve any of the content, this is your time to search the pages to find it. There is no promise that this content will remain available forever with the fragile nature of this forum.

I would recommend you keep on I-65N to I-565E...it's only a few miles farther, and most likely quicker, definitely easier.

It's south huntsville, 36 is way faster and you don't have to do the funky merge off of 565 onto 231.

Plus you'll go past all the fast food down on south parkway if you forgot to get lunch or need to drop.. the kids off... at the pool...

I've been doing the trip from Auburn to Huntsville for years and taking highway 36 is always faster to get to south Huntsville.

I grew up in SHsv and went to school at UAB, I never took 565 to 65 unless I was going north on 65.

You get better fuel mileage if you take 36 as well, since you have a slightly lower avg speed and everybody gets better mileage at 60 rather than 70.

Wait, you guys do 60 on HWY 36? I try never to get below 70 on surface streets....

Anyway, 36 is WAY faster and has a few decent curvy sections. Nice little drive.

When I lived in S HSV I never got on 565 to go north. I'd always take 53 to Ardmore and get on 65 at exit 1 in TN. To me 565 is a waste of time unless maybe you're going to Decatur?

It's nice until you get stuck behind someone slow. Voice of experience here.
