I just got an email from PBOC. They make it sound as if this event will be sanctioned by the Region. Here's their exact text -

Alabama Region SCCA has been invited to conduct an Auto Cross on the third level This event is open to all:
They will be charging $1 per run for those who want to just show up and run. They will look over any car in an informal Tech inspection, but if you're car can be driven to the site, more then likely the car will pass the tech inspection. Basically we will just look at the battery tie down, tires, check brake pedal, and make sure the wheels are secured properly.
An M rated or better helmet will be required, as well as closed toe shoes.

Who's actually taking care of the sanction, insurance, etc.?

That's on them. We're just manning the course and instructing the newbs. And setting stuff up and what not.

It's like powertour, except not muscle cars and douchebags.

Schedule and Payment

At the Pehlam Autocross on the 13th their was quite a lot of discussion and rummer about this event. Is there a sign up and tech requirement, what time do these open? What are the first car on course times for Saturday and Sunday. Is there a weekend price or is it a full pay by run event? Thank you.

I believe tech requirements are pretty much the same as ours, and tech will be available throughout the day (it will be one of us making sure your battery is tied down, your brakes work, and your wheels aren't about to fall off). It is a full on pay-per-run event, we might throw in some specials like buy 10 runs at once and get 2 free or something like that, but there will be no weekend price.

Signup will be at the Porsche classroom before you come in the gate (to the left when you enter the compound) and it will just be a waiver and probably an armband.

After 10am on saturday we will be open for business as the PBOC guys get full reign of the course from 8-10, and they will get priority through the rest of the day as well.


As for Sunday, We'll play that by ear.

From what I understand (and we will update this further friday evening, so stay posted) you just sign the waiver and tell them you're here for the autocross, maybe say SCCA, and voila!

Well, come one, come all. Got the course set up this evening, and I must say, Cholewa's idea turned out much nicer than I expected. Should be a blast!

So for registration, just tell them you're here for the SCCA Autocross, and you'll get an armband and swing on in.

Workers show up around 7:30, everybody else can come in anytime after 10.
