I'm pretty sure the participents of the HRPT autocross need little schooling from us. It might end up being the other way around!
I'm not going with the anticipation or expectation of running at all except after cones. I'm going mainly for club exposure...and also some shwag!

We can probably talk them into letting us do some fun runs during the lunch break (if they have one)

Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection ...... again.

Do we have any more info on this? A time table would be great.

I just spoke with Eric Rowles and he said that I could plan on everyone meeting at the Met at 8AM Thursday morning.I am planning on having the truck and trailer there on Wednesday night (me and Matt will handle that ).

Eric said he will send me an email itenerary tomorrow at some point so I am looking forward to that.He also said he was going to send a scan containing a _rough_ layout of the site and what they want to see.

Clay ..they also have a guy that is going to be there that has autox experience and course layout experience .He wants to work with you on what they ultimately want to accomplish course design wise. He is reportedly autox saavy so he is probably an SCCA member if I had to guess.Im sure that will be fun .This is a slightly differant demographic than we cater to so I am sure his input is going to prove useful.

Eric mentioned that the top speeds they are looking for is 35-40 MPH so this is going to be a BRC course of late Im sure . Thats all I know But to reiterate the main point of post .......................

BE AT THE MET AT 8AM THURSDAYMORNING JUNE 10TH.

Me and Robert were talking about this the other day, a lot of the people on the tour will be driving down from TN that morning, and these aren't people driving down for an autocross, they're driving down for the power tour. So we probably shouldn't expect people there until mid morning at the earliest.

Based on the number of cars that stopped at Talladega during the 2000 Power Tour, they won't have a lot of space for the autocross course, anyway, so a short, slow one is probably a given.

They're also scheduled to cruise the pelham-ish area off I-65 exit 246 that day. Flyers are out saying the key places are Hooter's, Whataburger, and Sonic. Speedsouth is advertising discounted dyno rates. The Met or autocross wasn't even mentioned. I'm guessing there don't be many cars out there except to watch or participate.
                          Erik B.
Why do I keep racing these weird cars?
Why can't I just get a miata and be happy?

Other way around. All of the press for the tour lists the stopping point as Regions Park (Hoover Met) and so the stuff you've seen for the Pelham area is in addition to this, and has mainly been advertised locally, but has no correlation with the tour, it was just an opportunity to hopefully grab some of the people while their in town before they head on to Mobile.

You hit the nail on the head Chuck. It will be a short probably 30-40 MPH course at best most likely in the 50-70 second range. We will most likely employ an element we are not used to .We will probably have a person at the finish area with a radio and post-it notepad to give times to drivers.Timing and scoring will more than likely be bored to death in that their only job in life will be to call over to finish with the time and how many cones.

I am still communicating with the organizers but its looking pretty low key on our part once the course is set and the cars are checked for tech.

I apologize for bailing, but the 8 a.m. meet time has messed me up. I have an orthodontic appointment at 8:30. I plan on coming by afterwords to help, but unfortunately I can't be there at 8. On the other hand, my teeth will look like this -----> in just 3 more weeks! Woo hoo!
