Now remind me which car you were in - there were several Mazdas, and more than 1 red one. There was one red Mazda that I nicknamed THE FLAMETHROWER. Was that you? Or was that one in the other group?

Chuck posted a link to some pictures - did you see that?
Yes I did see them, but I didn't see any pics of my car. I'm the one with the white rx-7 (the older one) my car was throwing some flames out too...gotta love the rotaries!

Let me know when u get them posted up...

OK I slapped some stills and all the video clips together, and I put some music on it also. It'll take awhile to format into a compressed file, and then another while to upload it to Google (too long for YouTube). When it's uploaded, I'll come back with a link.

You can look at the vid and if you see your car, you can tell me the min/sec markers from the video, and I can send you those clips separately all nice and clean wth no music so you can hear your exhaust loud & clear

        • Yeah, the flames were probably me. It seems to get worse the hotter the car gets. It really doesn't do it on the street. I think I need to readjust the amount of fuel it adds as the temp increases.

I had a good time, was my first real time to instruct. I'm glad I got talked, well kinda pushed into it when I arrived that morning. My first student was obviously not new to driving on a track, and was very quick, he pretty much just needed someone to show him the line. I hated to see his broke shock knocked him out for the rest of the day, might have just been a bad part because I didn't see anything that should have caused it to happen. My second student had a new car and was new to being on a track. He did have really good car control, probably from AutoXing, and improved greatly from the first to the last session. Once he got the line pretty much down he started pushing the car more and more each session.

Thanks to Evan and all the others who helped put this event on. Looks like we should still be known for more track time than you need at a PDX as most everyone was done by 3-4.

Go forth and view my slapdash VIDEO from Saturday's (sorry, crappy) footage! Lemme know if there's anything in there you want me to send you.

            • Thanks Ricky. You taught me the things I hadn't even thought about: the approach, and when to let go of the brakes. Well, at least that was what we worked on. Sorry if I scared you a little with the spin, but the 240 gave me a few bumps to the helmet making up for it. Your car makes mine look tall, but at least the focus has room for my big head! I learned a whole bunch, and noticed more speed into the braking zones, while pushing it less. On Sunday my neck and right foot were still tired!

Why do I keep racing these weird cars?
Why can't I just get a miata and be happy?

              • Thanks

                Everyone,

I just wanted to say that this was a great first track day for me and I do appreciate the work that went into it. The weather was great and so were the people.

A big thanks to everyone who has posted pictures.

Despite not being able to finish the day out (brake issues) and not being able to attend solo 2 on Sunday (fixing brakes), I have to say that this was awesome. Makes me want to jump up to solo 1 asap. I find the track much easier to read (vs solo 2) in terms of finding the line (even if I can't stay on it).

                Thanks Everyone!

                • Just wanted to add my thanks to Evan, John, Mark, and everyone else that helped to put on the event, especially the corner workers.

I regret that I did not get a chance to personally thank each and every one of you Saturday. Please accept this blanket Thank You for the sacrifice of your time for our benefit. It is/was very much appreciated.

I had a great time. Thanks for putting the event on.

Now, let's start talking about the Annual TGPR Time Trial school for 2009. What's the latest word on that?

                    Thanks!

                    • I'm sure the TT school will happen as it does every year. It usually happens around April.

                      I need fresh tires...

I will need a cage put in my car and a better driver's seat/steering wheel combo before then...lol.

I looked up those hubs Evan and they are very reasonably priced. The only thing is that I don't think they offer an application for any of the hubs. So I take it the LTB hub most bolt onto the MOMO steering adaptor?

                        • So, how many PDX attendees are planning on making it back to TGPR to do the Time Trial School in 2009?
