Registration isn't open yet so as of right now we have zero. I'm not sure when it will open, but just keep checking back either here or on dlb. And we would love to have you back!!!

Are you working or driving?? If your driving sure whenever you get ready. If you are working as long as there's someone to take your place.

Mr. Pannel, I know you and your brother instructed last year. One of you left early without informing anyone. I believe it was Spike, but I can't remember which one of you it was off the top of my head. I have it written down on my papers from last year. If it was Spike he is not welcome as an instructor, you are though. If I have it backwards then flop it around.

Spike is Richard and Clayton's Father and wasn't there last year. Richard and Clayton were instructors. I was an instructor and didn't know about having to inform anyone about leaving early. Maybe he didn't know either.

Stock belts (3 pt.) are NOT allowed at Barber! Must have 5 pt. or more for both seats (if pax seat is occupied). That is a Barber rule. I wasn't allowed to drive my Miata there last June at a NASA HPDE because of this. Many folks were in the same situation (with different cars).

Regarding verts @ Barber, a hardtop removes the need for harnesses & restraints. I spoke with Jim Pantas (NASA-SE) about this during the June 08 weekend (I was working corners), and confirmed it prior to registering for the May 09 event with my Miata. Due to my height I would not consider running without the hardtop anyway. The hardtop does not remove the need for rollover protection.

By the way, after working corners there for a few different organizations, it appears the convertible rules may vary. In late 08 I saw convertibles on track that I don't think would have been allowed per the Zoom rules for the NASA weekends. It sure looked to me like some were top-down with stock belts.

We all need to get our story straight on the Barber's rules before we spread them around. I can't even remember what they are off the top of my head exactly. You can't blame the track for NASA's issue. Those rules were in the contract that they signed at the beginning of the season and they didn't and to my knowledge haven't changed, Jim will agree.

None of this belongs in this thread, we can make a stick about different track rules if desired.

It's not an issue if you have signed off your students, or arrange to have someone take over your student. It becomes an issue when your student comes up to me (event chair) and tells me that he needs an instructor because his bailed.

This may be only for cars with race seats, or convertibles, or something. I ran that event with stock belts/seats. I thought that there was something going on about arm restraints, too.

Now that there has been an obvious misunderstanding/failure to read all of the contract, I'm sure all clubs will make sure their supplemental regulations are accurate.

Besides, this is the official TGPR PDX thread.

Must be just for convertibles. I've run my Integra @Barbers twice with just the stock belts.
