Glen Region calls your specialty "Off-Track Communications." Greg registered for Race Administration, IIRC.

It would probably be a good idea for you to hang around the base of the tower Saturday morning, just in case they start drafting flaggers.

I informed the Flag Chief several days ago that I'd be available if needed on a corner, too, since we have a big crew scheduled to work Sound Control.

With all of that said, the folks who are reluctant to help should realize that it's even more fun, more efficient, and safer to do this stuff if there are at least 3 people at each corner station. This means that, in order to have an ideal situation, we should have at least 51, count 'em, fifty-one corner workers for this event, plus the Flag Chief, one or two Control Communicators, and a Logger or three, who are also part of the F&C crew.

The revenue from this weekend helps make many of our other activities possible. If you Solo, PDX, Time Trial, or RallyCross, you've been helped by Club Racing. Now you have the chance to return the favor with some sweat equity.

Besides, you might like it. I love this stuff!

Geez, the same can be said for NDCCC ... things that make you go "mmmhhhhmmmm".

I'll be there, in worker whites, backpack packed, ready for whatever the club calls for; wavin' flags or bumpin' gums. I have, over many years, reaped the benefits of what SCCA has to offer. I'm not in a position to compete at the present time, but I can damn sure enjoy a fine weekend from the second or third best seat in the house that helps the club and satisfies my racin' itch to boot!

There are two programs in ALSCCA that support EVERYTHING ELSE we (i.e. "YOU") do.

Care to post which two they are?

You've got three guesses, and the first two don't count.

I'll say it, even if nobody else will - the NDCCC program was ALSCCA's biggest source of revenue (bigger than either Solo or Time Trials) prior to the opening of Barber Motorsports Park. I don't have access to the current numbers, but I'm sure it continues to be a big contributor. It probably pays at least for the annual banquet, which brings all of our membership together to celebrate the sport we love.

That's the least important of the reasons to support the NDCCCs, but it's a significant factor often left unsaid.

            Thanks for signing up Sean!

I have a vested interest in getting good corner workers, I'll be in the best seat in the house (behind the wheel) and I want protection in case bad stuff happens.

I'd say W8 with 35 (and counting) other moving pylons to consider.

Well TVR moved ahead of us slightly in the Volunteer count. We need a few more folks to signup and help out. If you haven't done it before you'll be trained, if you have doubts, try it and you will see whole new side to racing and gain a lot of respect for those that put these events on. Come try it!

Local drivers and drivers from as far away as New York state will be racing in 15 races in two days. Well over 160 cars are registered, right now. The smallest race group has over a dozen cars signed up (the non-winged formula cars) and the Spec Miata group and the fast IT cars each have fields of over 30 registered. You can get to watch all of this, for free, and from locations where pro photographers can't even go.

Volunteers are coming from the Carolinas, Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama and Wisconsin. Come see what brings them here.

Finally, you don't have to commit for both days. You don't have to commit for even one whole day. Come on out, help at a corner, and see if you like it. I think you will, if you're any kind of a gearhead.

I'm new to the site and have rejoined SCCA after a twenty year hiatus. I joined the Atlanta region because I'm more familiar with the membership and activities that they have. I've signed up to help with timing and scoring at Barber for the regional race having had a national license in the past. I'm looking forward to seeing some of you there.
