I just sent an email off to Gwen regarding the event. I so want to take care of the announcing again. Love doing it, love the event, love love love. The only issue I have is the possibility of traveling to Texas for a wedding that weekend. As soon as I know one way or the other I'll pop in and sign up. Hope to see you folks at the track.

I'm there if you need me on the mic. Well, you probably don't need me or Greg, but at the very least we amuse ourselves. I think we deserve that for one weekend out of the year, don't you? : )

I'd say show up, take the mike, and nobody will wrestle you for it. Most people are mike-averse.

If I can't make arrangements to stay onsite, where's a close, clean hotel?

It's those people that should have the mike in there hand.

I heard a story on NPR the other day that was pretty good...

Some have never called a game; others have been doing it for years. On one Saturday in mid-August, high school and college PA announcers will learn the tricks of the trade. The PA clinic at Hudson High School, in northeast Ohio, will include lessons on the "philosophy" of announcing.

The most relevant part of the interview.

DAN BOBKOFF: So, you want to be a PA announcer? Jeff Kurtz says there are a few things you need to know.

Mr. KURTZ: You are not a radio guy. You're not a play-by-play announcer. You're not a color man or a color woman. You're a public address announcer.

As I write this, the registration list says we need a minimum of another dozen people to work corners for this event.

Please don't wait until the last minute. Sign up, show up, and find out what SCCA Club Racing is all about.
