  • 1999 Miata LSD Options

I just got an open differential 1999 Miata. What are your suggestions for a LSD? Should I get a 4:10 torsen from a 94-97, a 4:30 torsen from a 99-00, add an obx or torsen unit to my current diff, other? Let me know your thoughts.

Um, you should weld it and be as awesome as I am. I'm trying to get Cholewa to do the same...he's a pansy though.

What years is you Miata? Never mind I see it's a 94 in your sig. Did you get axles with the open diff? 94 axles won't fit a 99 diff,
If it's a 99 open diff I'd say its got a 4:30 gear so, go buy your self an OS Giken diff and enjoy life to it's fullest. ($1600.00 +set up fee)

The easy button would say to purchase a 99-05 Torsen diff complete and sell the open diff. After finding a good Torsen unit ($350) and then getting it set up ($150-$400) you'll have nearly as much in it as buying a good used 99-05 ($850 with axles+driveshaft) from a reputable salvage yard. Coming to join us in STR Jackson? If so, the open diff is really the hot ticket

An RX-7 clutch-type LSD might be an option as well. Check out Randy Stocker's info:

It needs to be a 86 or newer and out of the correct car to be a clutch type. The 85 diff will fit but doesn't have any way to lock the axles in (no cir clips)
