Want to buy a used, working AMB transponder (cheap). Will only need it for TT, so don't want to spend big bucks!

I'll be honest I've been looking occasionally for a cheap used one for the past year or so but most used ones are $300+, plus there is some deal about getting on Mylaps that you can't change the name its registered under to your name from the guy who bought it. IMO it's best to just suck it up and buy a new one, which it looks like I'm going to have to do in the few weeks.Chris Mahaffey

It now costs you $50 to change a used transponder over to your name.Last edited by BoostedFD; 04-16-2009, 07:54 AM.Craig Farr

Paying AMB $50 to change the name over in MyLaps is only needed if you care to see your name on MyLaps.com. The transponder will still work at any track using that system, as long as you register that transponder number for that event.
On the other hand, a new one will pay for itself in 12 events (versus renting).Brian

Agreed for the amount of events vs purchase. I bought into the Traqmate to keep up with laptimes and gather data. Make sure and check them out this weekend if you dont have something already. Traqmate is worth as much as tires - about 2 seconds per lap easily.
See ya tomorrow ..
