Forum will no longer be utilized!

After facing many challenges with utilization of this forum for many years, the board voted on the evening of 1/12/2026 to stop use of the forum in favor of the modern, more effective means.

Most of our general club organization will now be coordinated via Discord and results from our events along with schedules and announcements will be hosted on our main alscca.net webpage.

What does this mean for the old forum? Well, in short we are going to stop using it. This has been reviewed several times in the past few years, and there has been a desire for some of more tenured members of the club to have the historic content preserved. In an effort to preserve this content, it was discovered that we could not simply export the content to be placed in a modern website. This forum will now become an archive only forum and will not be monitored. If you wish to preserve any of the content, this is your time to search the pages to find it. There is no promise that this content will remain available forever with the fragile nature of this forum.

Want to buy a used, working AMB transponder (cheap). Will only need it for TT, so don't want to spend big bucks!

If I can find a used one cheap, it will pay for itself.

I'll be honest I've been looking occasionally for a cheap used one for the past year or so but most used ones are $300+, plus there is some deal about getting on Mylaps that you can't change the name its registered under to your name from the guy who bought it. IMO it's best to just suck it up and buy a new one, which it looks like I'm going to have to do in the few weeks.

Cheap ones are hard to find and they tend to sell quickly.

It now costs you $50 to change a used transponder over to your name.

If thats the case it's going to cost about the same for a new as a used one.

PS. Your edited post is a screw up by me, it should be just as you typed it.

Come Nashville and Crow, you might wish you spent the $300 on a Cool Shirt System and rented the transponder

Only doing 2 or 3 TT events a year, it's hard to justify spending $380-$420 for a new one.

Paying AMB $50 to change the name over in MyLaps is only needed if you care to see your name on MyLaps.com. The transponder will still work at any track using that system, as long as you register that transponder number for that event.
On the other hand, a new one will pay for itself in 12 events (versus renting).

Agreed for the amount of events vs purchase. I bought into the Traqmate to keep up with laptimes and gather data. Make sure and check them out this weekend if you dont have something already. Traqmate is worth as much as tires - about 2 seconds per lap easily.

                  See ya tomorrow ..

I've been crewing for a Spec Miata team for several races; 2 cars with Tracmate. I agree, they are a very good system. Just not in my (unemployed) budget right now.
