  • I made a mistake on the miata

Heres what had happened....I bought a set of second hand eibach lowering springs on some also second hand bilstein shocks that were supposed to be r package shocks. All I wanted to do was lower the car an inch or so . It turns out that one of the shocks was bad and the seller took the shocks back . I put the springs on my original shocks and accomplished the goal of lowering the car but also managed to destroy the ride also. I guess its time to ask for help. What do I need to put on the car to have a _liveable_ ride and still be able to have a lower than stock ride height?

All of the Miata "lowering" springs suck. OTS Koni yellows, ebay adjusters, used 500/300 springs, soup.

Thanks Darryl. Does any of my Miata folks have anything like that lying around that I can purchase?

Ground control bump stops. $12 each. I can't remember exactly which ones I got. I think the stiff shock ones.

so if I go to piece these together then what if I use some koni str.t shocks with the 60 dollar ebay sleeves ? Then If I bought 500 front and 300 rear then how long of a spring do I want ?

I have secured a pair of 500# 6 inch springs. Has anyone got any 2.5" diameter 7 inch long 300# springs?

Figure out what you want to do with the car. Autocross, track, or street. Then the suspension mods can be done to fit your use. The lowering springs are junk.

yes Craig that is clear ....the lowering springs are garbage. I didnt exactly buy them as lowering springs....it just kindof played out that way. I am going to do street with a few autox events here and there. Ive pretty much settled on doing koni yellows and adjustable sleeves and will play with springs untill I get what works . Right now I have bought 300# for the rear and 500# for the front ...they are used so Im sure they will be easy enough to trade around if I dont like that .

Ricky, fyi I had bilstein HD shocks with 525/325 # springs on my Miata. It was fun on the autocross course but not too rough for daily driving. I think you'll like your setup.

Rod, the harshness for daily driving was probably the shocks.

thanks for that Rod. I have settled on 300 rear 500 front and koni sport yellows. I figure that is a good foundation to start with . Im going to buy sleeves and spanners of some srt but I have not settled on a particular one. I get mixed opinions and reviews on the ebay sleeves. I keep trying to get someone to tell me what the spring i.d. is but none of the cheap ebay ones have that listed nor do the sellers seem to know.
