I'd like to be the first to post a big fat yuck. If they fix the aero problems, get a decent powerplant or powerplants and please please please get rid of that HIDEOUS chassis, maybe I'll care.
The one thing I keep hearing is that changes will have to be made. I have heard of safety issues but not the details and about stands being added. I hope they don't change things to much.
I know where 30+ cars are sitting that could solve the CrapWagon problem right now. They have a Panoz emblem on them. They are Cosworth powered. They make all the right noises and look AMAZING. To top it off they have almost F1 level performance. What am I saying, there may only be 5 to 7 drivers in the IRL that could even consider driving such a machine.
Since I do not follow IRL closely, I wasn't aware of the issues with the chasis, etc. Sean makes good points. However, it sounds like it would be fun to see "stars" run at a local track in an arguably prestigous racing league. Of course I'll watch lawn mower racing so take that for what it's worth.

Snob!
Seriously this a major gain for the City of Birmingham to be on the map for something other than left hand racing, police dogs and water cannons. Now I wonder if this will be on the same weekend as the Talladega Time trial Weekend.
A bunch of us went to the first trest and tune in 08(?) and it was very interesting and unique. No Miata's on the track...that was weird. These IRL cars are fast and most of the drivers were willing to chat, sign autographs, but that didn't include Danika. We went to the first Brickyard 400 so we may have to do this first timer also. Anyone else in?
