  • I need tools

Or someone to install my brake pads... I'm apparently an invalid when it comes to working on cars away from huntsville, and need this pads installed asap. Can anyone help me out before sunday? Beer, money, women, whatever you require will be given in exchange for services.

Takers? work would also need to be done either early morning or late evening as I have to work all day th fr sat.

Someone out there can do this in an hour, I know you can.

Does a VW require any special tools to remove the calipers (I think my VW TDI did but it's been awhile).?

    Or is this how?

Why do you need a tool for the piston? Is it the screw in type?

I have the brake caliper compressor, but I'm not exactly in the area. If you have a couch I can sleep on, then I'll come to B'Ham Saturday afternoon and help you with it.

Well, I'll probably get off work between 10-11. Early morning would be best.

If it presses in like the link, then a C-clamp or some big channel locks might work.

The front just presses in, but the back has to turn from what I remember from the A4s.

How does Saturday at 7am sound? That should give me enough time to make it to work by 10:15.

People do this a lot, but it is a real PITA and there's a good chance of damaging the cylinder with the channel locks. Some people also use a pair of needle nose pliers to press on the dimples while turning. In the end, the right tool makes rear brake pad changing a 15-30 minute job with very little effort.
