You sure? I think you are thinking of the H22 ... the VTEC engine. That may be the case as it does look to be a DOHC motor, but I don't see the large VTEC valve cover on there, so I went with the F22. It's easy to spot the code if anyone can swing by.

EDIT :: Actually, looking again ... it could be an H23 (DOHC non-VTEC). I don't see where the engine was in any other car in the states, but parts might be interchangeable from an H22 ... which is also Prelude only I think.

The F22(A), H22 and H23 were all in that generation of Prelude. I promise. The F20C and F22C are the S2000 engines. The F22C in the S2K is a stroked F20C, adding the extra 200cc.

That looks like a pull everything out, paint it some god awful color with paint brushes in true lemon style, put a cage in it, and put back in what you need.

I'd say get this (with motor research) and use the MR2 this year while building the honda.

                This is cost per person:
$200- entry fee ( 100 per driver plus the $500 for the car)
$800- driver Equipment ( Helmet, suit, gloves, shoes. You could possibly go cheaper but in my case i would like my equipment to last. )
$120- fuel cost ( that is travel and fuel for the race. Roughly burning about 5 gallons an hour for the race.)
$120- tires ( hopefully we can get this cheaper but to be safe $120. 5 sets. )
$120- food ( that should be all food for the entire event )
$50- license ( unless you already have a legal license )
$10- camp ( the track charges $50 to camp. )

Total per person:$1,420 ( safe to say $1,500)
Total budget for team: $7,100 ( Being safe $7,500)

All of this is up to change with each persons needs.
You will need to up the fuel costs. It will take more like 10 gallons an hour to run a race car.

actually Drew spoke to the folks that raced this MR2 in a previous LeMons event and they told him it was burning 5 an hour. I thought it was a little low myself, but it's hard not to go with calculation given from the folks that own and race the car, lol.

Steve, are you definitely in for this? I have a few places I'm looking for a running car. The biggest issue is whatever I find will more than likely not have a cage in it and that adds to cost obviously.

I made a possible contact today for the car. A friend's husband has a warehouse full of cars in Ensley. Most of them are under $500. She's passing me his contact info and seeing if he has anything that matches what we're looking for. I told her it would most likely be a '80s to early '90s car that runs at very little cost.

                        • I'm going to call Mr. Brown tomorrow. I've also got another contact that may have something sitting around waiting for us to abuse. If anyone wants to go out to the warehouse with me if I can get ahold of them let me know and I'll make sure you're in the loop.

                              • Just spoke to Mr. Brown. He doesn't have anything that fits what we are looking for. Sounds like he is more in the business of finding older cars and combining a few of them to make one driver. The search continues.
