That thing will be scary with a limited slip. I couldn't believe it was open diff when you told me. Nothing like a good breaking of parts to justify some sweet upgrades

I've tried researching the center diff and how it works. From what I can tell, the active center diff goes open when the wheels are turned. We do a lot of turning in AX and RX.

The differential limiting force is increased when braking; entering a turn which gives greater stability and also when exiting a turn which gives better steering responsiveness, stability. The diff slowly opens when approaching the apex and slowly closes when exiting. So yes it is open in sharp turns when the greatest steering input is used, but it is partially "closed" when decelerating beginning the turn and accelerating when the wheel is unwound. It has to be open to let the back wheels turn at a slower rate than the front or it would skip/jump on really tight turns similar to a certain white 240 I know; except ours is the center diff opposed to the rear diff. Same concept. But that's the only time you want it open.

"If you're doing it right" you should use the least drastic steering inputs possible = decreased open position in the ACD.

My car doesn't skip or jump in tight turns...unless you're slow enough to consider backing out of a parking spot a tight turn

Probably similar to the IX LSD up front. Helical I believe.

As far as the center diff its going to get a new unit from an 2005 Evo Rs, its a good upgrade and option before upping to high dollar 1.5 way after market LSD ( and much better than what I had). and the rear is going to get a 12 plates set up instead of the stock " missed aligned" 8 plates. Let me know how the rear rebuild goes. I'm looking to do the same soon. Not sure if I want to realign the stock plates or get the additional plates.

Cool. I didn't know what the normal style was for front bias awd thingies.

I was going with just taking it apart and re-align the plates to specs. but the more research I did the more im convince that the 12 plates would suit me better for what the car is for. The Evo begs for more aggressive diffs, and thats what im giving it. Also this way Ill be able to tune the suspensions even further and correctly. C
