It looks like I set my best time of the weekend AFTER going off in that last session. ..... had to take the lip spoiler off to get all of the mud out from between it and the bumper.

After cooking the old Hoosiers I was running I switched to my BFG Rivals (that have been through four track events and a year of autocross) to just have some fun ... and started running my best times of the weekend! Thanks to running RaceChrono on my phone I was aware of this and we threw the trunk lid with my spoiler back on and went back out to see if I could improve further.

We didn't take the time to check pressures or anything, essentially double-stinting the poor old Rivals and the car was getting to be a bit of a handful. While Paul was cording his tires I was going straight off and through a muddy ditch in turn four (see picture below). I haven't seen the official times for that last session but I think I got pretty close to my best times even after my off-track excursion.

We all need to say a big thanks to all the workers and organizers, especially whoever was working the finally turn on Sunday afternoon. He was thankfully quick with that yellow flag a couple of times!

Thanks for a well run event. Been awhile since I was on the track but had to try out the new car. Had fun and the corner worker with the top had was too funny. Had all the track time this old guy could do. Thanks again,
    Gramps

Just to close this one out, the weather was some of the best we have ever seen. Saturday was sunny and warm. Track was a bit green due to all the rain but it rubbered in nicely. Sunday was overcast. All weekend was dry.

We ran until the last couple of guys corded their tires. Everyone got as much track time as they wanted.

    Thanx for coming out.

Thanks Chuck! I was wondering if the track was going to get flooded out again like it did a year or so ago. The weekend looks great!

    Here's my weather station - http://www.wunderground.com/personal...20150104/mweek

This weather station on the south side of Talladega is reporting much less rain than mine, so maybe the track got less than an inch - http://www.wunderground.com/personal...d?ID=KALTALLA6

Here's the National Weather Service forecast for the track - http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick...8#.UkV212RMSiM

We've gotten just over an inch of rain in Anniston, already, this morning (by 10 AM Friday,) but nothing in the last hour, or so. There's a little more coming, but then it looks dry after lunch.

This may be the best weather weekend in a month, or so, coming up.

There are still a few spots remaining for the Time Trial School and PDX. IF you've ever wanted to get on track or get your Time trail license, this is the best event for doing so. It's a low key, laid back event that allows you to get up to speed at your pace and learn track etiquette that will serve you well at other venues. Sign up to day and come have some fun this weekend!

We didn't forget about you workers either. We have a corner station with your name on it. Sign up and help us put this event on for the drivers. We'll feed you lunch and get you some track time at the end of the day as well as send you home with a few bucks in your pocket.

Sign up! We could use the help.

    (Further thread jacking)

At the Just Track It event last year they didn't use the pictured chicane in oval-turn-3 so you got to run pretty much the whole oval.

As of now $195 for for the track day. It'll go up as the event gets closer. They also have a Time Attack series for the A group if you want to compete. Hopefully this link will work:
