  • November 1, 2008 Clinic - GET READY!

Only three weeks away, the next New Driver Car Control Clinic will be held on Nov. 1st. It's time to mark your calendar so that you can take part in this FUN and FANTASTIC program.

We have a full clinic and we need a slate full of instructors to meet the demand. Please let me know if YOU will be on hand to take part. We need experienced instructors and newbies as well; we really like to "spread the love around".

Believe it or not, you do have something to offer.

Sean, Matt, & Jordan - please coordinate with one another about your classroom roles for the Nov. 1st clinic - then let me know how it's gonna go down. Thanks!

Oh, greg, I was thinking. Before we start the colverleaf, can you do a quick display of the friction circle? I was trying to explain to the kids why the car understeers in the cloverleaf but it was a little hard since they have no idea that they can't have 100% of everything. or make it a traction diamond since that does the same thing.

You could actually use a triangle to demonstrate. The base being your turning ability left and right, and the top as your forward speed. Basically demonstrating that the slower you go the sharper you can turn, and the faster you go the wider the turn will have to be.

I Actually think it would be good to knock that out in the first lecture before they even start the slalom. Because all in all that is probably the most important concept of the day.

...and one that some race car drivers seem unable to understand at times
