+1 for the excellent course design. The last course I ran left my novice skills feeling thoroughly pwned, while I felt like I had a chance this time.

Forum will no longer be utilized!
After facing many challenges with utilization of this forum for many years, the board voted on the evening of 1/12/2026 to stop use of the forum in favor of the modern, more effective means.
Most of our general club organization will now be coordinated via Discord and results from our events along with schedules and announcements will be hosted on our main alscca.net webpage.
What does this mean for the old forum? Well, in short we are going to stop using it. This has been reviewed several times in the past few years, and there has been a desire for some of more tenured members of the club to have the historic content preserved. In an effort to preserve this content, it was discovered that we could not simply export the content to be placed in a modern website. This forum will now become an archive only forum and will not be monitored. If you wish to preserve any of the content, this is your time to search the pages to find it. There is no promise that this content will remain available forever with the fragile nature of this forum.

What about the people that "think" they are a novice but in reality are so not. cough Camaro cough. There were a few others as well. Nice job from the new folks yesterday even if they were confused as to what class they should run in.

Exactly. Drew does a good job with that when he does tech. He was out so that might have been part of the problemOriginally posted by JohnW8 View PostWhen folks get registered we need to tell them EXACTLY what their class is and TECH needs to remind them to get the numbers on the car. Just my .02¢

There was obviously some confusion. I did my best to tell the new drivers about their class and what needed to be on the car, including the N designation.
In the first group, I thought some people weren't registered correctly ... maybe the wrong numbers. I found that the N was the issue after 2 cars didn't show up in timing. After lunch, the problem was that every new registration entry had deleted itself. I had to manually add them all back in after the event.Matt W.

The only thing that sucked in any way was the lack of turnout. For a couple years, it seems like we were getting around a hundred entries for most events. Maybe there were competing events, and maybe there were folks worried about Talladega traffic (turned out not to be a problem,) but I've learned to expect at least 50% more folks, so we could run three groups.
It was cool to get in six runs plus fun runs and be home in time to mow the lawn.Chuck Schultz

Oh contraire. Apparently I'm bringing up the rear of CSP. Can anyone tell me where the CSP 2 car was DNF'n? I'll dig myself in a bit deaper and say that I thought the course was great fun and easy to read and that I have no idea where I was missing. Several mentors were watching my three runs and no one noticed DNF's from the side lines. I'm just finding it hard to believe and hard to let down everyone who helped me upgrade the car this season. Any input is greatly appreciated.Originally posted by JohnW8 View PostGreat event and great course! I had a great time and would like to thank Hannah for riding with me on my last run which would've been fast enough for a CSP win but alas this day it was not...AlanBranch is the new CSP Marshal.
I'll get you next month, you and you're little whizzin' ebay car too!
Just kiddin' CSP is sucha blast because we're always a 10th or 2 apart. Last month I had FTD this month I was 5th. Sheesh!Mark

That was the best course I can remember. It was open enough that I didn't hit a single cone all day, and our worker station only had 2 down all day. We still seemed to keep within the speed "limit" too. I'm sure some of the more "technical" people may disagree with me.

I LOVED the course .It was open to multiple line choices .It wasnt so confining that you couldnt try differant things but it wasnt so open that you could just floor it either .Hats off to the whole setup crew and those who staffed the day .
I had to bail right at the end of runs because I needed to give Matt (my 15 year old son)his first driving lesson in a car .I dont know who enjoyed that more ...me or him .
