It's okay, officially 70″ W x 61″ H. It'll eventually be my youngest's car and she will be doing at least a few events in it when she gets her learners.Originally posted by rodhx View PostI'm guessing it's fine, but be sure to check the height vs track width on the Mazda to make sure it's eligible to run.Steve Saunders

Gentlemen (& Gentlewomen),
My Mom passed on Wednesday and we are having her visitation service on Sunday evening, with funeral on Monday morning. I still plan to Safety Steward on Sunday, because it will help me to clear my head. I just wanted to give you a head's up that I will need to leave in the early afternoon. Hopefully, someone else will volunteer to work Safety as well. Thanks.Chris Chatta

We just need to make sure you work an early run group and free you up in the afternoon.Rod H

So...do we know what happened to the timing system in the afternoon?
Woogity buckets cause continual misalignment. We need a better sensor mounting system to allow for uneven ground. The wind wasn't helping with the buffeting of the pvs pipe section the sensors hide in.John W8

Yes Steve! Very fun course. We had issue also of the afternoon 1st run group drivers just not coming back for their work assignments. We all have to work for each other otherwise we can just charge $100.00 a head and pay people to work corners. Good event! Wish I had found some grip somewhere.John W8

Those buckets have worked really well but there is a lot of slop in the bolt connection now. Most folks I have seen mount their farmtek lights inside those plastic milk crates with a weight on the bottom to make them stable. We have some crates in the truck so that's something we could do. Just need to make provisions for protection from rain.Originally posted by JohnW8 View PostWoogity buckets cause continual misalignment. It is not exclusively the wiggly pvc or wind or foam, it was combination of all that plus the fact that finish line had a significant elevation between the left and right eyes. Which causes one eye to have to be angle down and one angled up. The wind would just straighten them out. I never adjusted them side to side, it was always one was angled way high or low. The wind even blew the foam/eye out of the pvc twice, which has only happened once before when the storm blew in while we were at Shelton.Originally posted by rodhx View PostThose buckets have worked really well but there is a lot of slop in the bolt connection now. Bristol has a similar issue when they start going towards the drag strip. They use milk-crates with about a 3/4"-7/8" shim on the backside of one to account for the camber in the road.
Me and Cameron talked about it and for fair weather days, we may go to using camera tripods set to about knee height for the added z-axis adjustability. In the 3 years I've been setting up those lights, this is the first time we've had that much issue with the lights misaligning and the only variables that changed were wind and the finish being in the more undulating part of the met parking lot.Last edited by MilesCrabbe; 02-26-2019, 11:19 PM.Miles Crabbe #31
