Todd! Great to hear you are coming over. Now I am really pressured to deliver a fun course in a small place .

      Game on!

That's quite a long distance. Would the timing lights work that far apart?

Maybe... they do have massive antennas.

Yeah, that's big question #1, the other being if we can get through that gate safely.

                  So size does matter?

I vote for the road course section as well! Clay will make it interesting.

Yes, safety has concerns with going through the gate on the east side. Huge concerns. Plus the old road course, if I remember correctly is off camber and has uneven pavement. Even if we could do a course that long do we have enough people to cover it. Last I looked we have 30 registered.

The actual pavement on the road course is fine except where they added uneven areas for the bike testing but it's off to one side. You can see it on the satellite image on the outside of the curve to the south. Really you could probably create a course just on the loop using features to avoid the uneven pavement...

The main area is small enough you really only need two or three worker stations and if we build the road course section with minimal cones it shouldn't take too many people.

And getting through the fence: What are the actual rules for that? As for getting through safely, just put a 90 degree turn to slow the car waaay down and then a straight shot. Would something like that work??

2.2 COURSE SAFETY AND LAYOUT RULES
                          C. The course boundary shall not normally pass closer than 25 ft. from solid
                          objects.

                          2.3 COURSE DESIGN RULES
                          B. The course shall be at least 15 ft. wide and single-file slalom markers shall
be at least 45 ft. apart. Any series of three (3) or more course markers
which are generally in a line and have the effect of a slalom are considered
to be a slalom. Additional course markers associated with the slalom
markers to form gates, “boxes,” etc, do not cancel this limit.

The actual rules are pretty clear. Unless that gate opening is a minimum of 65' wide we can't go through it. (it's approx. 30') I know everyone want to have a larger site to run on but I won't approve a course that violates these rules and put us in a bind on getting further sanctions.

Who says 90 degree corners slow anyone down?

Ok gotcha. That's why I was asking.

I'm confused by the word "normally" in that rule. How would the course "abnormally" pass within 25ft of something?
