OK.. going back to the three runs and done topic for just a second... I'm starting to think I should run three runs and done just to save tires... just realized we're gonna get over 20 runs at the Evo school!! I need my tires to last the season!!

I really think this should be standard operating procedure for ALL auto cross events.
First three count and the rest are fun runs.

When I was new I liked 5 runs. Lets let each class have there own say and keep everyone happy.

Now there is an idea if I ever heard one, only the Novice class gets five timed runs.

It;s never been mandatory for anyone to take any more runs than he or she want to take. If someone wants to stand on their first 3, I don't see an issue with it. The only thing is if the class has not agreed to a three and done format and they get beat on someones 5th run then they have to live with that.

In Impound, the talk turns to what should have been, what you did right and where you're going to get a beer at the end of the day.

I don't drive 8 or more hours for 3-6 minutes of driving for glory. I go to visit with people that love cars and like to have fun. Autocross is a great sport!
At the bigger events, the top drivers are always relaxed (especially when I am little threat to them). I learn more about what to do, and how to do it better, with a great group that pushes all competetors to do their best. HS at the Dixie Tour has 14 drivers, and should be a blast (like the CSP group here).

And technically, all you have to complete is one run without a DNF for your best time (of one). I think that's what makes the SSSSS event so much fun each year. You take the fastest 8 PAX drivers, and then they each get one run to advance or get kicked out. It pushes each driver to run their best (or be the least worst). If I could only figure out how to get past the first round (I have ANOTHER new strategy this year)

i get little enough seat time as it is w/o loosing 40% of my runs. if one class wants to do 3 runs & done, more power to you! if 2-4 folks in a class want to do 3 runs & done, great! just don't force it on the rest of the class. if you get beat by someone on their 5th run & you loose the trophy for the year, i don't want to hear ANYONE complaining about it. it is not a local rule, it hasn't been a local rule, i hope it never becomes a local rule. if i want preasure like that i'll go to regionals or divisionals. if you want to not take more than 3 runs, or tell the start to dnf your 4th & on runs, i have no problem with it. but, please don't expect me to want the same.

No one loses any seat time, it's just the first 3 runs count. Period. If every class does this than every on is on the same boat. The only reason I agreed to it was because everyone in CSP agreed to it. I won't miss any of my fun runs I can tell you that for sure.

CSP is running a three runs and done format this year for trophies and year end points. This should get some of us ready for divisionals as well as nationals, save a few dollars on tires, and maybe even help out the two driver cars on swapping out since you can skip a run or two. You can still run the full five or six runs, every thing after 3 gets counted as a DNF. So what other class wants in on the fun?
Bill you may want to reread my original post. I am not trying to force it on the club or any class. CSP talked about it during the off season and all agreed, it changes nothing for the club or anyone else for that matter. CSP will still get the same number of timed runs, the last few just won't count for trophies or points.

I think each class ought to be able to make their own minds up if they want 3 or 5 just like CSP did. What little bit of democracy this country has left is what makes it great. Hope Big Brother wasn't listening.

Since there's usually only one FSP car, can we do 12 runs and done?

Why do I keep racing these weird cars?
Why can't I just get a miata and be happy?

Be careful - there's a certain VW beetle that shows up occasionally, and I'm not _always_ at some race track (although I will be this weekend.)

Aight, beetle, bring it! I was in ST(S) when they last ran.
Chuck, the day you come to autocross, I'll be at a track somewhere.
