Most regions do the N class just as Jamie is describing it. If your beating all of the novices and the people that would be in your regular class you need to decide which trophy you want.

Would it be less confusing if the drivers competing in the novice class showed only N on their car? It would be a lot less to call out on the radio, and provide a greater class feel. For example: "N 3, 2 cones, station 3" instead of "NSTS2 3 2 cones station 3." Even first time visitors would know who they're classed with. Those visitors are less likely to be worried about the PAX, while regular N drivers will know they may win with a slightly slower time.Erik B.
Why do I keep racing these weird cars?
Why can't I just get a miata and be happy?

Basically a new driver might chose to run N even though his car is classed CSP. By the second event we find out he is some kind of phenom and he is getting FTD. If he wants to switch to CSP it should be up to him. Not likely but stranger things have happened...

Basically, you're saying that someone marked N can only score points for the N class for that event and toward the Rookie of the Year award ... not toward their marked class ... STS, BS or other. Also, even if a NSTS driver is faster than all other STS drivers, the fastest STS driver gets the 1st place points.
I can follow, but why would anyone do that for the entire season? That's voluntarily taking yourself out of the running for a class in hopes of that single chance at RotY.

I'm with you now Jamie. We just need to run this once for T&S, as I think we only use the "N" classification for registration and not timing. So, car NCSP 14 would be entered in timing as CSP 14. Again, this is just how I think it works. PAX would be calculated with the N designation automatically based on registration.Last edited by TouringBubble; 01-30-2009, 12:07 PM.Matt W.

One thing on the N and C classes ... could the wavier person possibly do a little pre-screening for us? If they aren't familiar or are asking questions that make them seem new, maybe let them know to tell registration that they are novices on with a club?Matt W.

Jamie ... I think i set up the L class incorrectly. I had it set up like nationals where each class had a L class as well. You wanted it to work just like N, right?Matt W.
