    3.5 MUFFLERS
Adequate mufflers are required for SoloŽ events. The criterion of “adequacy”
is not what the exhaust system consists of, but the sound level.
Any car deemed by the Event Chairman or his designated representative
to be excessively loud shall not compete without acceptable modifications
    installed on the car.

Doesn't have to be a sound meter. Let's please be proactive and not upset the neighbors.
the Honda van is ridiculous. I held my fingers in my ears each time it went thru the slalom. Only after it was long gone did I pick up the cone it invariably killed. I shouldn't have to have my hearing damaged to participate. that vehicle is waaaay over 100dB.

DerkMC, props to you for taking the time to learn and doing the right thing.

Part of the point that is being made is you shouldn't have to protest someone for a mod such as yours. It is understandable that someone new to the sport may come in with little in the way of mods collectively, but get bumped in class as you found out. You took the right course of action, and I hope anyone else would do the same.

For someone to come into the sport and then decide to run a class where they feel competitive regardless of mods because they think a rule is stupid reflects a bad attitude and poor sportsmanship.

The correct approach would be to do as you and Lyle: decide whether to change class or change mods.
Try to learn the basis for the rules. You may come to appreciate them. You might also find that they are baseless and stupid in which case you can benefit the entire membership by petitioning for a rule change.

Very true. That entire fleet and the non-factory Honda guys seem to really know how to make a car way too loud.
