Our series in Huntsville is actually a joint series between the two organizations, but operating under TAC insurance. I'm not sure if we would have RT* classes even if they were TVR-only events. Things move very slowly up here. If nothing else, this proves that we are, in fact, Southern. We don't automatically trust those Northerners in Topeka.Originally posted by engled View PostOur northern brothers don't have to observer the SCCA rules as they don't run under that banner. While we can make up all the classes we want we (ALSCCA) are supposed to support all the national classes.
You know, I keep hearing reps of the SCCA say that the regions are free to adjust/create/modify classes as they see fit and are, in fact, encouraged to do so.
This is the standard answer when regional people criticize the National classes.
They say that it was the popularity of the street tire classes in the regions that gave birth to the RT* classes. (Not the hundreds of letters requesting a move to street tires in Stock.) Of course, that experiment is now scheduled for execution at dawn, Jan 1, 2014 and we are now on our way to street tires in stock!

I assume you are talking about the Tire class and PAX multiplier that ALSCCA is using. I might be wrong but I don't believe that is a national class. the tire class multiplier is a recommended multiplier and many regions use it but not all. We (Huntsville) have discussed using it for several years but have chosen not to for various reasons. But, we do however stay very close to the national classes as in SCCA and we will most likely follow SCCA next year with the stock changes that are being proposed.Originally posted by engled View PostOur northern brothers don't have to observer the SCCA rules as they don't run under that banner. This should bring us closer in align with ALSCCA next year.

I'm plenty excited to race 2 days in a row! Attendance points are gravy. I'm probably still better in pax with SMF than if I was driving my midsize commuter car in stock class.Erik B.
Why do I keep racing these weird cars?
Why can't I just get a miata and be happy?

Page 2 of this thread I made a post with the points breakdown.Originally posted by Focus View PostBetween the A-mod, Evos, and CSP cars, that's not very likely. How far down the rankings do points go? Is there a post somewhere with the official rules?- Jerry Ledford

You want to change to SM? Or you're in SM and want to go to ASP?
I'm sure they'll let you change on site. I'd try to get there earlier so you're not trying to change at the last minute. I believe they've already bumped up the start time by 15 or 20 min versus their normal weekends because of the turnout.- Jerry Ledford

I was going to run in ASP for better PAX in Sara's Evo. but then...I wanna try out my Sti to see how competitive it is and its an SM car. So, Since Saturday is not a point event, and they have an Sti already in SM its a good oppotunity for me to rate the car and see if it could be a new contender for next season. Evaluate its suspension, and handling. My Evo MAYBE retiring autocross since we are starting to work on Sara's car. Anyways, thats for next season, tomorrow is about having some fun.
