  • Spring Nationals Report

Guess word didn't travel down here but Jordan Towns kicked some major butt in Lincoln, NE last weekend at the SCCA Solo Spring Nationals.

She started off Fri-Sat with the Pro Solo competing in the combined L3 Street Touring class where she trophied in 4th place out 14 ladies entered. The L3 class at that event was probably the greatest assemblage of female talent ever to populate a single class at an autocross with 8 multinational champions entered. On the second day of the event it rained and Jordan was running times faster than any of the STX open competitors. It didn't figure into the final results because the dry times from day 1 stood but it was still pretty intimidating and incredible to watch.

Then on Sun-Mon she ran the National Tour event where she finished 2nd overall out of 8 in one of the most epic battles I've ever seen fought. She beat 2 multinational champions in the process. Monday in particular was amazing to watch. It started out full wet for the first run, then intermediate for the second, and full dry for the third runs. So it was basically 3 single run events with no room for error or cones at any time. Jordan continued her domination in the rain from the Pro's and was leading all the way up to the final set of runs when Holly Schwedler popped off a flyer that was 3 seconds faster than anything she had previously run. Jordan was on course at the time and had no idea but was still running hard on cold tires with our dry set-up and ended up in almost a dead heat for the day with Holly. Holly's time from day one was faster so that ended up being the deciding factor but it was an awesome nail biter to watch.

Hope everyone gets to follow Jordan as she continues in her first full year of National Competition in a fully prepped car. It promises to be exciting!!!!!

We all know what an amazing talent Jordan is but, unfortunately, our forum is weak on expressing support.

Congrats Jordan on a job well done! I can't wait to see what you'll do in more
consistent conditions. A Nationals Champion jacket will look good on you.

Never expected any less. She's faster each and every time she runs. Jordan is gifted in the desire and willingness to not just learn, but to win. Period. She's obviously the perfect student/ protégé, but with natural talent that continues to amaze me (and admittedly has frustrated me a time or two). I used to ride along with her and give her tips/pointers in her 1st couple/3 seasons. Now all I can do is just try to claim that getting her to ride along with me many times in my old '89 Mustang (sideways 70+% of the course) at BRC when she came out the first few times had something to do with her deciding she liked Solo 2. She's learned from much better drivers since, but knowing I might have helped make her decide she wanted to come back for a 2nd event is satisfaction to me. Keep kicking a**, Jordan!

Thanks again everyone! It really does mean a lot. And Lyle, every time I tell people about my first autocross experience, I always include that ride in the Mustang... because it was just that awesome
