Guess word didn't travel down here but Jordan Towns kicked some major butt in Lincoln, NE last weekend at the SCCA Solo Spring Nationals.
She started off Fri-Sat with the Pro Solo competing in the combined L3 Street Touring class where she trophied in 4th place out 14 ladies entered. The L3 class at that event was probably the greatest assemblage of female talent ever to populate a single class at an autocross with 8 multinational champions entered. On the second day of the event it rained and Jordan was running times faster than any of the STX open competitors. It didn't figure into the final results because the dry times from day 1 stood but it was still pretty intimidating and incredible to watch.
Then on Sun-Mon she ran the National Tour event where she finished 2nd overall out of 8 in one of the most epic battles I've ever seen fought. She beat 2 multinational champions in the process. Monday in particular was amazing to watch. It started out full wet for the first run, then intermediate for the second, and full dry for the third runs. So it was basically 3 single run events with no room for error or cones at any time. Jordan continued her domination in the rain from the Pro's and was leading all the way up to the final set of runs when Holly Schwedler popped off a flyer that was 3 seconds faster than anything she had previously run. Jordan was on course at the time and had no idea but was still running hard on cold tires with our dry set-up and ended up in almost a dead heat for the day with Holly. Holly's time from day one was faster so that ended up being the deciding factor but it was an awesome nail biter to watch.
Hope everyone gets to follow Jordan as she continues in her first full year of National Competition in a fully prepped car. It promises to be exciting!!!!!
