The total for all the trophies from the banquet last year was close to 1k, and the individual solo trophies like beer mugs and what not ran close to 1k as well.M. Cholewa

The prices vary on trophies. It all depends on what you buy. The Atlanta Region doesn't bother with event trophies and uses the a fraction of the money saved to buy trophies for year end class champions. Good plan for saving money over the course of a season and 1 less headache for the chairmen.Originally posted by HPEVOX View PostHow much do these trophies cost exactly? You better watch what you say. If you let National hear that RallyX only has 9 classes, and is gaining in popularity, people are going to start whining that Brianne Corn is too fast, and they can't beat her.......next thing you know, there are 18 classes, then someone will whine about something, then 36 classes.Originally posted by dirtdog View Postwhat if we had 3 different drive wheel configurations, and 3 prep levels, wow 9 classes, that would be great, then if we could race on a surface that was traction challenged . . . . . . but I can only dream.

TAC has been doing a top 10 in Raw and Pax for number of years. In the past some of those year end awards are tailored for each person. For example if you win HS, and finished 2nd in raw and 1st in pax, you'd get one nice award with all that information on it.Charles

I realize that Charles. I've seen the nice jackets and shirts, etc that have been presented. There seems to be a distinct difference in our two regions though, and we've seen this time and time again in the North v South. The AL region is comprised of mostly SP and Mod cars. Normally, these group of car and driver combos are going to be focused on RAW times. PAX is not as important. TVR region is comprised of Stock and Street tire category cars, where PAX is important.Originally posted by slowautoxr View PostTAC has been doing a top 10 in Raw and Pax for number of years. TAC/TVR also only allows those people that are apart of their region to win trophies. We do not, if you are a member of SCCA, and attend enough of our events to win a year end trophy, then you will get a year end trophy. We want people to come to our region, but most importantly, we want to set up our region towards our most energetic group of people. I believe that if someone comes from another region atleast 6 times to participate in our event, then they are seeing something they enjoy.
Sure an HS or GS car can do well in PAX, and most of the time, a mediocre driver in HS or GS can place really well in PAX. But for the majority of our region's members, it seems like the RAW times really get people going. That is where the smack talk really comes from. That is where a REALLY NICE award, something that you will really want to work towards, will be something that can get people talking, and coming to our region.John Kilgore...if winning was easy, losers would do it.

Well, if you want to really get the competetition and smack talk going, make the year end award based on fast
RAW
AND
PAX!
I think the format for points for N vs S rewards a good PAX and a fast raw time to give you the most points for a TRUE year end trophy that rewards good drivers and those with fast cars and prep. Now THAT is a trophy worth winning!
PS: And there will NEVER be the fun smack talk of years gone past because of the censorship and political correctness on these boards. The classic smack and wonderfully amusing photoshop pics that were posted in jest (and not taken seriously) are lost with the new generation. It is quite a shame...
I still remember the bumper stickers printed and placed on cars "I ain't afraid of no Robe Man"!Bill Clinton "It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is."

Take me in the rabbit for example. I made it into the SSSS after what, 2 years of autocrossing, and on street tires. I think what we see more often than not down here, is people who aren't worried about national competition or regional competition, so there's less prep to the letter of the rules, and less money spent on tires. CSP is a different story, but look at everyone in stock - they're actually driving stock cars. Everyone else is driving a car that they modified as a tuner, not as an scca contender. Differen't strokes down here.Originally posted by kilgojr View PostSure an HS or GS car can do well in PAX, and most of the time, a mediocre driver in HS or GS can place really well in PAX. It's not that we don't talk shit, it's just that our moderators would prefer it if we didn't, because we are a family club, and the internet is not full of porn and curse words and animosities. We talk plenty of trash in person, on facebook, etc. And it's not like the forum is really that active, there's what, 15 people that post semi-regularly?Originally posted by claym View PostPS: And there will NEVER be the fun smack talk of years gone past because of the censorship and political correctness on these boards. I think the club, or at least the autocross portion is headed in the right direction, we've got new people coming in and staying, we just need to make it feel a little more accepting and a little less secret car club cliquey.M. Cholewa

The fun smack of the past was all clean FUN! We were a great family back then, and joked around with our "family" in a clean but fun way. But that WAS before your time...Originally posted by Cholewa View Post

It's a smack start but weak. I see no photoshop, but maybe you can try an Etch a Sketch....
But this is probably a "no smoking area " boards anyway!

see what I did there?
There is still smack talk out there, in a very joking, fun way. C and I do it pretty often. Nicky V and Matt tend to join in sometimes, but i digress. Let's not get off topic with this thread...
It seems RAW times are where locals like it, judging from the red bar being longer than the others up there ^^^^^. It's just small group war that seems to be the focus. We have a few cars close to each of us that we have our battles with. Take me, C and Matt for example. Sam and Zach. Darryl and John W8 (<since i don't know proper spelling).... John Kilgore and whoever else can spin their car the most.Heath Patterson
