Forum will no longer be utilized!

After facing many challenges with utilization of this forum for many years, the board voted on the evening of 1/12/2026 to stop use of the forum in favor of the modern, more effective means.

Most of our general club organization will now be coordinated via Discord and results from our events along with schedules and announcements will be hosted on our main alscca.net webpage.

What does this mean for the old forum? Well, in short we are going to stop using it. This has been reviewed several times in the past few years, and there has been a desire for some of more tenured members of the club to have the historic content preserved. In an effort to preserve this content, it was discovered that we could not simply export the content to be placed in a modern website. This forum will now become an archive only forum and will not be monitored. If you wish to preserve any of the content, this is your time to search the pages to find it. There is no promise that this content will remain available forever with the fragile nature of this forum.

I felt the same way on my E30. I'm not sure what the PO had on the car but it felt better than the HPS pads. The HP+ have been great for auto cross so far.

The thing you have to remember about a "track" pad, is that the initial bite may not be very good, if its designed for hot lapping. You have to get some heat in them. Just a thought.

"you will notice that the MOT of the Reds is 1400*F and the Yellows is 1750*F. Not a big difference right? Well wrong. The Reds work best below their MOT, where as, the Yellows work best in their upper temperature ranges. The sacrifice between the two would be cold bite. The Reds have more bite on cold stops, but the Yellows can take more and more hard stops (aka HPDE events)." - Mike

For both light, slow cars (Escort GT and NA Miata) I've used 'em on, I've been happy with Hawk HP+ pads for street and for track days. They're noisy and dirty, but the stops have been consistent for the duration of the track sessions I've run, at Barber, TGPR, Road Atlanta, and NCCAR, with Azenis and R-comps, and they work right now on the street or the autocross course.

I figure consistency is more important than absolute top performance for track days.

My experience is limited to this pad, only, other than "stock." YMMV, etc.

My only concern is noise really. I can wash my wheels as often as i need to. I just don't want the car screaming at me at every stop sign lol.

So you don't want to sound like a garbage truck coming to a stop?

I kinda like it, but I'm weird, that way.

My HP+ don't squeak at every stop sign but do make noise sometimes. I coated the entire back side of the pad with the stop squeak grease, not sure how much that helped but I don't get the ear piercing squeal at every stop.

I just don't want mine to sound like a certain silver evo 8... with carbotechs... Thai guy drives it... "Got a first name too, but can't pronounce it"

I didn't put any stop squeal grease on mine. I've only very rarely had squealing, and NOTHING like what C has. I'm pretty sure the pads C are running are comparable to the DTC 60 or 70 that Hawk makes, which is the Track pad.

I've been happy with the HP+.

                      • Just to add I don't have HP+ on the rear yet, just the front. I still have the HPS on the rear. The HP+ seemed good for more laps at TGPR than the HPS but I still felt like when I tried to go deeper into the braking zone on lap 5 or 6 that the stopping power went away compared to lap 3 or 4.

                        • Yeah i'm pretty sold on the HP+ from all the reading i've done. They seem like a great autox pad, but maybe not track pad like jerry said. They're operating temp doesn't range as high as even the ebc reds. But i don't track and if some track opp comes up, i'll just switch pads. Although that site you mentioned doesn't have rears for my car John

I think HP+ has changed compounds in the last few years. They have always had decent cold bite, and good heat resistance in my 240, 540 and 635...all which have seen autoX, street duty, and track days.

Those 3 cars all had quiet HP+ in the past.....recently (aka last 2 years) the HP+ are pretty squealy. I DD them no problem, but they are very loud...aka gf's ask you what is broken, babies nearby cry, and epileptics go into seizures loud.

Great pad, especially compared to HPS (which is pretty useless on track days), but unless you are me and have no self respect I would not run HP+ on the street.

Going by what killgojr says - maybe it is an application specific compound/squeal issue.

                            • I have heard both stories on the noise. some have said super loud and some say min to no noise. I guess it's on which rotor it's matched up with?

                              • Hahaha I run HP+ on the street, and I don't care what anyone thinks! They're pretty loud. I've loved them at autocross (back when I actually autocrossed by car) and I'm about to take them to a track day this weekend... so I guess we'll know how that goes by the end of this weekend.
