  • Pro class - How does it work?

Anyone that has info on the Pro class ...

Is it a PAX class or a raw time class? I simply can't remember and wanted to be sure. Trying to set up the class definitions so we can get AxWare registration up and running.

Pretty sure Pro is a Pax class.

Pro is a PAX class. It is open to all classes so does not have the tire restriction of Tire PAX class.

If I understand correctly, it's basically a class for people who travel to not disrupt other regions championship battles.

Not necessarily, but that is one good use for it. Three drivers in the same car & class is specifically verboten in the Solo rules...could Pro also be an option for three drivers to share a car? Obviously the odd man out is not competing with the other two and would have to run in a different run group.

This is timely discussion as there is a chance that the boys and I may all drive the Miata. If so I will likely throw "CSP" on the car and take my punishment like a man, but Pro may be an option.

Or just run it in tire.

One day SCCA will wise up and institute a "D" Dad pax class.

Okay. I will implement a "X" Pax class for Pro. This means that Pro class cars will have to register and run as X then their base class for the PAX modifier. This has been confusing for some in the past with Pro and Tire classes, so I wanted to make it clear.

              Examples ...

              TCSP
              XCSP
              NCSP

You cannot run a single T or X as your class as we don't know your PAX modifier.

              Thanks for the help guys.

(Originally said P would be the class, but it seems that the generally accepted class designation is X.)

Tire is not an option. Remember, ST_ classes cannot run Tire pax since they are already on street tires.

The Dad pax class has merit however.

                  Could run Pro though.

But for Local events we can allow 3 drivers in one car in a class. Technically we can do whatever we want locally to fit our local needs. I personally don't see any reason that you couldn't run a Hardiman STR car. Sure you could have a slight advantage in tire warming, but in reality I don't necessarily think anyone would protest that, the same thing is going to happen whether two of you are STR and one is CSP, if you are all running Pro class.

And what is this with Hardiman all in one car? You have the Focus (Civic), the E30, and the Miata, and possibly another e30 or Mazdaspeed3.

Three drivers really klutzes up grid so I would not want to go there, even though I know y'all would let me. The boys would run STR regardless of whether I drove Pro STR or CSP and I would just get y'all to make sure STR is not in the same run group as Pro or CSP. Thus no grid klutz up

The Civic is gone. We sold it Thursday. Not sure Zac is going to race what we replace it with. The e30's head gasket issues keep it from being healthy enough to race...I don't even like driving it very far at this point. Right now that just leaves the Miata, though I am looking at something else for Ben to daily and both of them to race.

Rod, if it happens just let registration know. We generally run PAX classes with their base class, so PSTR would run with STR unless you let us know you need to run separate. In that case we can skew the run groups a little to balance it all out and you can just run in a different group ... or we can run Pro together. Probably not a bad idea to just do that anyway.
