  • What did you do to your car today?

Seeing as there are a good bit of people viewing the forums these days, it's about time we started a thread like this.

Just post whatever automobile related crap you want to, if you got new parts, heard a new noise, smelled a new smell, etc.

I looked at the volvo today, and I rearranged the shelf of parts that need to be installed.

    How bout you?

I pondered getting a new shift knob because the leather on my current shift knob is starting to fall apart.

      Let's see....

I took the rear subframe off the Miata. I stripped all the control arms off. Took the rear shocks out and threw them across the garage because they are crap. I put the springs in the box to complete my set of stock springs (these are for sell also....1996 Miata OEM springs, in good shape). Then I cleaned the subframe, and painted it. I cleaned the control arms but need to get the bushings out before I can really clean them up and paint them.
Then I cut some more of the rear floor out in preparation of the flat floor and rear mounted radiator.

This is what I need to do to my car.

Also, Edwin installed my new coilovers yesterday so today was a rough but fun drive to work.

I was finally able to drive my E30 to work again!

Over the weekend I was able to finish up a head gasket install along with a freshened up head, new stock cam and rockers, all new seals, etc. Coolant was flushed and oil was changed after the initial start up.

I also had the intake and valve cover powder coated while they were off the car. Then I installed a set of Corbeau FX1 Pro seats with Schroth harnesses. Finally a Sparco front strut tower bar was added to the mix.

As long as there is no oil leak after the trip back to Auburn this evening the head gasket swap will have been a successful venture!

Reinstalled and centered the seat in the racecar after fixing the questionable floorpan and applying new paint. Moved the rear view mirror to a more advantageous location. Moved the shift light to the tach to open up a spot for the traqmate. I lined up all the various oils and fluids on the work bench according to how they will be installed when I get the engine back from the machine shop this FRIDAY!!!. 3rd time's a charm... right? Cleaned tracksnot off the ITA car, cleaned cone marks off of the CSP car, cleaned bird poop off the DD car and replaced the busted CD player. Replaced coils, wires, converter, sensors on the DD trying to kill the check engine light.

The check engine light has been on so long I'm starting to wonder if I bought an Audi.

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and torque is how far you take the wall with you.

Topped off my power steering fluid because its making a noise and I think its about to die. That counts right?

What code is it throwing John? NBs are infamous for the PO340 code. My car will throw it if restarted hot a coupla times...like if I need to make a few stops on the way home from work. There is nothing wrong and really nothing you can do about it. Cleaning the intake manifold will help for a while, as does re-routing a particular vacuum hose, but nothing is a real fix.
