Sounds like OMA would be in breach of contract. I would tell OMA that if we only get half the parking lot then the club should be refunded.

Well as much as I would like to say that we will have the lot and give the "you're number one" to the civic complex, that's likely not going to happen. We are in a partnership with OMA and while we do pay for the lot, we have no pull or leverage in trying to get the whole lot to ourselves. If we try and act like spoiled little brats, we won't have a place to race for very much longer. All we can do is ask nicely and play well with others.

If worse comes to worse, I think I have an idea. The circus shows aren't starting until the afternoon. There are going to be 6 over the whole weekend. I don't see any way that they will be filling up parking lots. But if they are, we can beat them at their own game. Instead of parking in the VIP lot and running in the big lot, we switch it. We park in the big lot and run in the VIP lot. The VIP lot is about half the size of the big lot. If we do try and run in the big lot, we will run into parking wars, and trying to deal with all that makes for a big headache. We may only have half of the big lot anyway. So if that's the case, then we'll switch it up and not have to deal with any of that. Pelham can't get mad at us if we are using the parking lot for a parking lot. Luckily, as Rod said, its only a test'n'tune. The course is only going to be around 30 sec long. It will feature a couple slaloms, a few gates, a sweeper turn, and that's about it. I think we can do all of that in the VIP lot and do it safely.

So never fear, THE TEST'N'TUNE IS STILL ON!!!!

Mark, very agile and out of the box thinking. It will work for what we need.

Do I need to be in a VIP Lot Course designing mindset for this weekend, then?

Heck, we've got an audience. Let's sell tickets and put on a show. (with all proper permits, of course)

              This.

We could run a warm up course and a timed course in each lot, park where we normally grid.

I think Marks idea is excelent, we want to look at the bigger picture here. I understand that we have a contract and " technically" have the entire lot for our self. But Political entities have a lot more say-so than our club, and I believe that WE ALL would like to continue using the site in the future so we would have to somewhat be in-compliance and keep them away. PLUS considering that theres going to be lots of people there for the circus I think there shall be a good amount of people spectating and perhaps future autocrossers ( the dads that have to bring the kids to the dang circus). lets try our best to use this as an oppotunity. The surface in the "paddock" is kinda nasty compared to the main lot. Holes, dips, dirt, fences. etc., etc.

Is it possible to split the lot with the circus? I assume the circus will be inside and we're just worrying about a parking issue right?

We could grid where we normally grid and start a course up by the main entrance on the south end of the lot running northeast towards ChickFila. That way our cars would be traveling away from the circus parking.

Why not let the clowns have all of the parking West of the main entrance gate and then we could occupy all of the parking lot to the East. It would still be larger than the VIP parking lot. Maybe someone can talk to the Civic Center and work out a compromise? At least make sure the circus crew doesn't take up half the parking lot.

                      What about this?

                      Example to satisfy everyone?

Is the circus going to be there saturday and sunday, or is it just sunday?

This portion of the two lots is in much better shape, with a little work on traffic flow this would be doable and is pretty much what we are using now.

Id like to know this as well, I can only make the saturday event but if we only get half the lot it may not be worth the drive?

How are we going to move cars from pit to grid?

Also, that's going to be a huge pain for people to register. Maybe we can have them drive around the perimeter road to register and then go back through the VIP area to get to the pit?
