As much as we'd like to think that, we don't have the influence to hold that lot if circus patrons start rolling in. At least we are working on it in advance though ... maybe the mayor will stay at home this time.Originally posted by Cholewa View PostMaybe that's something pelham should have considered when the built their civic center without a parking lot.Matt W.

Actually we do. The entire parking lot is the Oak Mountain Amphitheaters. The Civic Complex did not build a parking lot because they built right next to the amphitheater to save money, much like the rest of the things done in Pelham, it was done (I'll stop here because I could go on forever about the Political situation in Pelham).Originally posted by TouringBubble View PostAs much as we'd like to think that, we don't have the influence to hold that lot if circus patrons start rolling in. Either way, we are working on it. We have a signed contract with Oak Mountain Amphitheater and the Civic Complex is supposed to check with OMA before scheduling any large event utilizing the parking lot. We had this contract back in December, and I can only assume this event popped up just recently because we were adjusting schedules as little as two weeks ago with OMA because of conflicts with the Civic Complex and concerts at OMA.John Kilgore...if winning was easy, losers would do it.

Instead of wandering spectators we'll have to worry about lions and elephants. Well technically if Verizon owns that parking lot, it comes down to them to enforce a no tresspassing, however if they have some sort of written agreement with Pelham to use the parking lot then we have a problem then. If there isn't one, then its "private" property and I don't see how a mayor or cop can make us move.Originally posted by TouringBubble View PostAs much as we'd like to think that, we don't have the influence to hold that lot if circus patrons start rolling in. It's pretty easy when they walk out onto a hot course and don't leave...Originally posted by spray004 View PostInstead of wandering spectators we'll have to worry about lions and elephants. Can't really run cars around them.

you are 100% correct ... so is John. but, it's about politics. We tell the Civic Center "no" and then the mayor shows up and stands on the course. nothing we can do because OMA will not tell the mayor "No, these guys have the lot." Well, they will, but when there is enough push back it doesn't matter.Originally posted by spray004 View PostInstead of wandering spectators we'll have to worry about lions and elephants. It's wrong ... we have the lot ... but if it comes down to it, the Civic Center has more political pull than ALSCCA. That's all I'm saying. It will go down just like last time.
I wish it wasn't like that and I'm glad our guys are on top of things. Hopefully it won't come down to that again.Matt W.
