Forum will no longer be utilized!

After facing many challenges with utilization of this forum for many years, the board voted on the evening of 1/12/2026 to stop use of the forum in favor of the modern, more effective means.

Most of our general club organization will now be coordinated via Discord and results from our events along with schedules and announcements will be hosted on our main alscca.net webpage.

What does this mean for the old forum? Well, in short we are going to stop using it. This has been reviewed several times in the past few years, and there has been a desire for some of more tenured members of the club to have the historic content preserved. In an effort to preserve this content, it was discovered that we could not simply export the content to be placed in a modern website. This forum will now become an archive only forum and will not be monitored. If you wish to preserve any of the content, this is your time to search the pages to find it. There is no promise that this content will remain available forever with the fragile nature of this forum.

You think I can buy tires for $600? Maybe clearance all seasons.

15" R1Rs were in the $600 range. Can't speak to the 17" or 18" tires.

And there's nothing wrong with automatics.
Again, this is true, but I always have more fun when driving a manual. Heck, my school has a chevy equinox with a 6-speed hooked up to a dinky 1.9L TiD and it is an absolute hoot to drive.

I can get 225/45zr17 Hankook Rs3's for 117 each. My saggy conti's cost more than that.

More like $70 ... and I have 2 cars to shoe as well.

Either way, you don't think about killing your street tires until you need them for the street. I'm a strong proponent of having decent all-seasons for the street and ST tires for autocross, or at least some throw aways that are not your dailies.

Meh, I have no qualms about running summers all year in alabama. When it snows, the city shuts down. Summers are just as good in the rain if not better than all seasons. True they wont last as long as two sets, but having the great stopping characteristics of the summers daily is quite nice.

It all depends on the quality of your summer tires. the old tires we put on Katie's car were horrible in the rain and left a lot to be desired in the dry as well. They were summer tires. Her Continental DWS are awesome in the wet and dry and are all seasons.

I will never drive a really grippy summer tire in the winter again. I did it with RS2s and with G-Force Sports and both turned in to rocks after the short winters we had. Good summer tires become useless quick after just a few sub-freezing exposures.
