Forum will no longer be utilized!

After facing many challenges with utilization of this forum for many years, the board voted on the evening of 1/12/2026 to stop use of the forum in favor of the modern, more effective means.

Most of our general club organization will now be coordinated via Discord and results from our events along with schedules and announcements will be hosted on our main alscca.net webpage.

What does this mean for the old forum? Well, in short we are going to stop using it. This has been reviewed several times in the past few years, and there has been a desire for some of more tenured members of the club to have the historic content preserved. In an effort to preserve this content, it was discovered that we could not simply export the content to be placed in a modern website. This forum will now become an archive only forum and will not be monitored. If you wish to preserve any of the content, this is your time to search the pages to find it. There is no promise that this content will remain available forever with the fragile nature of this forum.

Slow cars require less braking, and more carrying momentum. Fast cars require quicker foot management (since you'll be on the brakes a lot more) and in mein personal opinion, aren't as fun.

      Either way, smooth is fast.

Methinks you haven't driven enough fast cars ...

I haven't, but riding along and watching you guys makes my heart hurt. After raping in the rabbit, and then riding along in the fast cars, it was clear that I much prefer the lower power less brakes method. Since the rabbit couldn't pull away after a hard braking, I adapted to not brake hard ever, and it seemed to have worked pretty darn well.

That might be a FWD thing too.

I think it just has to do with linear power output, the rabbit was pretty smooth all the way up to 6200, no surprises at 2500 or anything. I guess I could just get used to turbo cars and then not complain

It's just the difference of momentum cars versus acceleration cars. You drive differently.

I think Darryl covered it best after driving one of the Bimmers. "I've got to worry about braking, throttle modulation, oversteer, understeer, turning and everything all at once. I'll stick to a Miata"

Nothing against momentum cars as they are fun and difficult in their own way ... but don't knock fast cars just because you can't handle it. =P

Is that why you use e85?

FYI, I ran 93 at Points 7 and had no issues taking 1st in class.

Autocross Godmode = welded diff + too much spring. Like a boss!

1 welded diff = fail. 3 welded diffs = win. Doing that on Sunday! =)

Cost total for sway bars, coilovers, rims, tires, exhaust, updated turbo intake, and tune is extremely high for my particular model. Not to mention, coilovers will ruin my commute.

I will run what I have at the next few events, but I think I will try to find a way to get a second car so I don't have to beat on my daily driver on a regular basis.

It may not work out, but this looks like a good option for me.

Why do you need all that stuff? Spare wheels and tires is all I see that you need.

He doesn't even need spare crap. Just run what you got. I did it for 3 years and never had any issues (until of course, I did stupid things after rallyx).

This is true. I suppose this is my noob side showing in that I want my car to feel like a race car. I would still rather not beat on my daily driver, not to mention, a manual trans would be a plus.

My tires have been chunking under daily driving conditions. I do not trust them under the consistent stress of autocross.

I agree with not racing on your street tires. I did that, and ended up with bald street tires and no money for new ones. That was not a good place to be.

Just budget $50 a month for tires every year, and youve got 600 bucks waiting for you after you shred your current set.

And there's nothing wrong with automatics.
